I've been trying to build up my collection of alpha brushes, then experimenting with them as I get them done.
Also, I tried modelling a bit of body for this one: those indents at the shoulders will be filled in at some point. http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/zbc_uploads/user_image-1009126567grz.jpg

The wrinkled skin looks very realistic and the expression on the mouth is unique. Overall this is one of the most believable alien creatures I have seen. Great teeth too.

damn creepy and cool! how did you set up the primitives using the alpha? did you model the creature and just use the alpha brush to paint textures on it or did you somehow use the alpha as texture for the primitive? I am still trying to figure out the best way to create skin textures.

Hi talos, I generally start with a modified base material - using noise and some color bump to give it some texture. Once the model is colored and positioned, I'll use alpha brushes to add the extra textures. When I do this, I'll also use lighter values of the same colors.
If you'd like more detail on this, let me know.

Your experimentation seems to be working well, the end results are excellent. I'll have to play around with the alpha brushes, I've not done much with them.

I smile when I see creepy creatures.
And I was worried about scary imagery posting! Lol...would take me a month to get results like this.
