View Full Version : Alpha for pastels -- and odd columns bonus

Trying to find good shapes for "natural media" brushes -- the first picture shows one for pastels (brush shapes shown in black and white) -- the idea is that the stroke would either be solid or have grooves in it, depending on stroke direction -- it also happens to "stutter" in a good way when using dots stroke

The alpha palette has items that can be set to affect the look: Blur, Noise, Maximize Range, Radial Fade.

The second picture shows an accidental discovery when the active texture and alpha were the same image -- drawing upward at an uneven rate made some odd geological columns

kewl looking experiment Kev!! I like the bottom experiment...at first glance on the thumbnail it looked like a Rubic's cube at first.....I love seeing inovative experiments like this one. :tu:

The Alpha research and drawing with it is one of the funny thing in Zbrush : it's infinite :)

Here's a softer, more chalky one -- only Flat Material was used and the trick was to use Alpha Noise on the brush

Brush02, Alpha Blur 2, medium Alpha Noise, medium RGB intensity -- lower Blur gives a drier look
