FireFox 3 help

FireFox3 Download How to Set it to do one at a time.
I want to click on a file to download then while it is downloading click onto another one but I do not what it to start until the first one downloads then go to the next one etc.
If not in FireFox3 is there a plugin that does this - I have looked and searched plugins but they all seem to want to download all the files at the same time - I want them to be downloaded one at a time.

OR

any freeware downloaders that will do the above

Have you tried Free Download Manager (http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/)? It might let you do what you are wanting. I know you can stop and start individual downloads with it and schedule downloads and do batch downloads, but I've only started using it, so I don't know everything it can do. It has a plug-in for Firefox 3.

I don't have the very latest version of Free Download Manager, but I can do what you ask by:

- Goto Options -> Download Options -> Network tab, and

- Select "Maximum number of running downloads" and set it to 1.

- Click "OK" button

Hope this helps...MG

Yes, that's how FDM works for me here. When there're a lot of files to be downloaded, FDM shows the active download at the top of the list with a check mark next to it and all the others waiting to be downloaded are below it with an hour glass next to them. When the 1st finishes downloading, the next one in the list automatically starts to download.

I don't remember if I had to set anything special for it to work this way or not. It's been a few years since I started using it and when I upgrade to a newer version I just import the settings from my last ver.

I attached my FDM settings file so you can import it into yours to see if it works the way you want.

- Please note that you'll probably want to change the folder I have set where FDM saves the downloaded files:

Options -> Download options -> New download

- Also you'll want to change the virus checking option to use your virus checker or unselect that option:

Options -> Download options -> All downloads -> Perform virus check

Recommend you export your settings first so you have a copy to fall back on in case you want to easily go back.

To export your settings: File -> Export -> Export settings

To import my settings: File -> Import -> Import settings

If you are getting the files to download one at a time without clicking on each file to download them then I would not upgrade to 2.5 - your settings did not start an auto download of the files - I had to start each one. Which is what my ver is doing.

Thanks for the help :)

Hey goodrichm found the hour glass:tu:

Downloads > Start download automatically (do this for each file in the list) and the list gets downloaded one file at a time (and have the 1 set as you said in your post)

I was thinking the Start download automatically as like a select all but you have to set each one manually - but hey that way better than waiting for each to download then start the next one:lol:

Thanks for your help.

Cool, that's a step in the right direction ;) Do you have the following option selected in preferences:

Options -> Download options -> Start download automatically

PS
FYI, I'm using ver 2.1.
