Hello All!
I started out making heads for another image, then feet and hands, then clouds, then waves, then stuff and things which distracted me so much that I forgot what the hell I was trying to do....hahahahahaha.
Creativity is such an organized process with me.
The original image swiftly deteriorated fast and furiously to utter dis-array!
The best laid plans eh?
All ZBrush textures - no filters.
Lighting used to create effects on transparent reflective things...I noticed I haven't played with lattices lately and thought you might get a kick out of this.
Rendered in ZBrush.

All the best - and thank you for your comments,

this image is way kewl...reminds me of something offa high priced sci fi book cover....(that is a compliment)...dawn of an alien world? Love the colors and the lighting :tu: :tu: :tu: :tu: :tu: :tu:

and I know the feeling about getting sidetracked and starting another idea before I can get the original one out...hmm now what was I talking about....snicker....

Stunning. The colors and depth -- especially around the sun in the distance -- are gorgrous. I don't think anyone would have guessed that this was ZBrush, once again showing off the versatility of the program. Bryce users had better watch out! :)

Thank you all - I aplogize for my delay in response.

Stonecutter:
I am trying to write down how I did this and will mail you when I am done.
There are several warn orange point lights towards the "back" of the scene (POS Z).
Most of the effects were done using the smudge tool with intensity reflect material.
I used a line stroke with different distance settings (.02 to.10) and varied the size and shape of the brushes.
The reflections from the lights caused the results/effects in the center of the image.
It started with ZBrush sky on the first layer and each layer after I just kept adding.
2 layers for the terrains (made with alpha mask from the sky and deformed)
The "arms" are a half torus masked 1 column and deformed negative deflate and smoothed, then flattened on the Z axis.
I played with the render settings and light quite a bit...no fog though.
I also used the fiber brush liberally in the midground with a dotty brush and a very low density setting for particle effects.

I appreciate your interest very much...I know this is not typical use of ZBrush but I like to experiment and thank you for the encouragement. It means much to me.
Keeps me going in fact....

All my best,

Paul

Thanks for the background, P! :tu:
I personally don't think there is such a thing as a usual way to use this kick-ass software, and this is definitely one of the most interesting experiments I've seen here!

Way to whip the ole' governor off your imagination engine, and turn that badboy loose! This is superfine, Paul!
