joining two or more objects

All I want to do is:
1- draw a sphere , shape it,model it etc.
2- draw another shape ,model it, etc
3- then join these two shapes and shape it again as a single combined shape.
4- paint the parts of this new shape with out losing the rotating ,editing capability.

can any one help me with a simple 1 ,2 ,3 steps? or is it to complicated?Joining two :confused: null :confused: trx115@yahoo.com
