View Full Version : I have some questions about materials
First let me say that I am absolutely LOVING this program!!! I show it to everyone I can get to watch ~ I love it. I love it even more since I found somewhere to get some instructions!! I'm not the brightest bulb in the lamp.
1st question: I went and downloaded this "Materials Pack" thing, but can't for the life of me figure out how to make it work. Can anybody walk me through it? The instructions where I downloaded it from said to "place" the MaterialPack "folder" into the ZBrush folder, so I put the .zip file into my ZBrush directory; then it said to "lauch" ZBrush and load the MaterialsPack.txt file. But I can't figure out how to do that; my ZBrush only "loads" ZBrush movies, .bmp's and .psd's... what am I doing wrong?
2nd question: Is there some way I can get an "operations manual" for this program? I don't find a "help" file for the program itself; like something that detail-describes procedures? or is this forum that resource?

First you'll need to unzip that Zip file and then place it into the proper directory.
You can load ZScripts from the ZScript pallette.
You can download a manual for ZBrush at the http://www.pixologic.com site.

You must first unzip the Material Pack .ZIP file before you can use it's contents.
Do you have a ZScript Palette? If so, use 'open' to open the Material Pack ZScript. If you do not have a ZScript Palette, you have an older version of ZBrush and you need to upgrade before you can use ZScripts. If you need to upgrade, please send me and email so I can help you:

You can download the ZBrush manual from the Download page on the Pixologic website.

you said "so I put the .zip file into my ZBrush directory...... DON't Put it in there ZIPED up you must UN ZIP it First.
make sure you have a program to open up ZIP files if Not go to WINZIP.COM and download it to open the ZIP files....
i see your talking about .BMP . PSD MOVIE..
Your not in the right area.....
when opening up ZBrush Program look on the very top left that says (ZScript) now chose (LOAD) This is the place you want to put the file..
when you have it UN Ziped just RIGHT click over it and chose (COPY) and when you (LOAD) it from (ZSCRIPT) chose (PASTE) NOW Look for the TXT it ask for.....
if your still having problems let me know and tell me if your ZBrush is in your (PROGRAM) Files and ill make a Self extrater to place it in there for you so you don't have to do any thing.....
OR you can do a short cut your self IF its in program file by putting this (C:\Program Files\ZBrush\ZScripts) in your addy bar HTTP:// and hit ENTER that will take you right there Leave off the bracket () just put this in your http:\\ addy bar C:\Program Files\ZBrush\ZScripts BUT erace the http:\\ first

The easiest way to keep things organized is to make a folder, call it Material Pack, and save the ZIP there...You can then unzip into this folder, and have all the files in one place. I have a folder for Zips, and after I establish that the unzipped files work, I copy the zip into this folder, then delete the original...Anyway you want to work will do, but you want a 'Material Pack' folder to put the files into. ZBrush doesn't like files all over the place, and Windows isn't too fond of messy file locations either! ;)
(And since there are a lot of files in the Material Pack, you definitely want to keep them all in one place...A folder is the logical way to organize these files...)
