Hi everyone, I've been coming here for months and been looking over everyone's shoulder.. really nice work! I now am the proud owner of a chocolate bar, a cartoon head and an eyeball.. :) I've learned alot with the scripts, tutorials and just reading the postings here.

My question is one that I have failed to find in 3 days, so I'm resorting to posting this q.. I've created my head on one layer, saved as a tool, made 2 eyeballs each on it's own layer, saved as tool. I've brought all the items back in (after taking a RL break) got them fixed again.. ok, this is getting old by now.. so I want to save as tool.. so I merged the layers, but when I tried to save as tool.. it only saves the eyeball or the bare face. I've tried merge then bake.. clearing markers.. I want to eventually save this as a 3D object.. Is this possible? All the tutes I've been able to find has rendered the pic after merging, but I want the object, not just the pic.. :( Thanks for your help in advance! :tu:

You can only save the active tool...If you want to do what you suggest, you would have to create a Multimarker polymesh, and since I don't use markers much at all, you will have to wait for someone else to advise you on those. I personally would make the head, save it, then make one eye, saving it with its texture imbedded...Then you can load your head, put it into position, then add your eye, 'snapshot' it, then move the copy into position.
The key thing I think you should remember is that the final result of ZBrush is an image, not a model. It is a paint program that has a 3D component. Planning ahead, what kind of image you want to result, assembling parts, and then composing your scene,is the way I work. Everybody has a different approach with this software, and over time, you will work out yours...
Feel free to email me personally for any further help I can offer to any specific problems you're encountering... :)

Oh, and by the way, welcome to the forum!

If I understand what you're trying to do is combine all the parts of a head into one tool: What you will need to is put each object where you want it onto the canvas and place a marker for each object. What you will then went to do is select the Multi-Marker tool and select the "Make Polymesh" item in the Multi-Market tool sub-pallette. Also, in the Marker pallette make sure to have the "color" and "texture" buttons switched to "on", that way your Polymesh will have the correct colors and textures.

Keep in mind, however, that in the current version of ZBrush you can't have polymesh objects as part of a multi-marker object.

Thanks guys for the quick answers! I was using multi-markers.. after I merged the layers.. I didn't know what to do next. Gave me the idea to search for multi-markers.. wow, found just what I needed to know.. in the manual of course (page 182 to be exact). :o

Again thanks for the help!!
