Is there any public documentation on the ZBrush fileformat. I want to write a trueSpace import/export plugin to handle ZBrush models.
ZBrush now can both import and export .obj files and trueSpace can read them. But that solution is not to good, because all information about materials, alpha's etc is lost.
I have also sent this question to Pixologic suipport.

Hi Roland,
i ask this too (long time ago), but pixologic don't replies. I think a 'Yes' or 'No' answers will be out (i hope).
In ZTL there is embedded a creator-name too...

Hmm ... sound strange. I'll hope the will answer this time. At least Yes or No.
I thougt that they ( as most other 3d companys ) would be just glad if their product would be supported by other applications.
Let's hope for the best.

Hi Roland,
i think ZTL format is very smart...An example: with ZTL you can do grid (row and column) selection, but with imported object you can't. This is impossible also if you save the imported object in ZTL format !!!

Hi
I got a fast repsone from Pixilogic on my requery, telling me that they do have plans for releasing file-format specs in the future. They I can not say exactly when, however.
But that good news.
Meanwhile I was thinking of a lightweigth variant of trueSpace plugin that can read/write obj-formatted model from ZBrush along will ZBrush textures and alpha maps.
