View Full Version : project management
I wonder if and how the adept Zbrush users manage projects?
heheh, this is a feature request in disguise ... i know, i know, wait for the wish-list :D
anyway, here is a concept sketch:
project-save: on/off
browse field: name of project folder
checkbox: save custom Materials with material-slot numbers
radio button: save all custom tools / save only the custom tools that are in use
I bring up this idea as a hobbyist artist and occasional programmer who is really glad to see the rise of ZBrush and that graphics artists in film and games are using it in their work-flow :)

Nice to see you here again H...
My way is really SIMPLE... :D
If I get an idea, I IMMEDIATELY open a new folder for it...Into this folder goes everything to do with the project...This folder is in another folder called ZBrush projects...In windows, at least, folders take up no memory to speak of.
Another thing is that I save NOTHING to the original ZBrush folders...I keep them as they are, to run as efficiently as possible. I think because of this, in the time since July of 2001, when I first got ZBrush, I have NEVER had it crash, or do anything weird... ;)
The beauty of this system for me is that periodically, I burn the entire folders to a CD, and clear them off my drive, but can copy the folder back onto my drive when I want to re-visit a project...
That's how I do it, but then I'm a gemcutter, and a sailor, and appreciate not having surprises... :D :D :D

Hey SC -- sounds like a good enough way for me -- I just need to remember to save as I go, including tools and materials
hi havran, the way i do is begining for each project a new folder with a good name and saving there materials, objects... but from time to time i notice that i use some material very often and then i save it to the zmaterials folder. this kepps all things cleanly apart and so also no crashes ever with zbrush ;)
Hi havran,
i use zlist script to keep all togheter and put all on one directory (as said by SC).

thanks cameyo -- I will check out the zlist script
