I have made some changes to the original pose I had intended to use. I worked from two photos from the same scene at slightly different points in it and angles, in the end I settled for this one.
100% ZBrush.

you have done a very very nice job on this one....good thing his name wasn't Samson or he would be pulling those pillars down....You really put alot of time and effort into this one....

Oh you did a great job here!! Love the way his face expressions came out!

This turned out wonderful DM! The only thing I would have suggested would be to tune down the texture on the pillars and stone- it is too deep and has too much contrast for a texture that should be relatively small compared to the scale of the objects that it is put on. Overall though this is a great job! :tu: :tu:

 Sorry, Mentat...As a worker of stone myself, I think the stone textures are fine... !
The Steve Reeves likeness is great and I like the cinematic, movie poster look!

Very nice! One thing that bugs me though, whats all that brown sketching on the black background behind him? It doesnt look like it should be there.

As a boy growing up Steve Reeves was one of my idols. It is nice to see this image, it takes me back to those old days. I think you did a very creditable job on this image. :tu: :tu: :tu:

Well Mike I would agree the texture looks good but that's the way it would look if it were 12" in front of your face........ :D It just has too much sharpness for the scale and distance from the eye that's all......

Hi Downwrdspiral, I've put another version of the file on though I must admit I couldn't see the brown sketching on my monitor. The original file had blipped when I saved to jpeg, so perhaps that was the problem. Thats two lots of stick I've had I think I will use a Poser figure next time, it will be a lot quicker and easier to do than this was, and it may even get marked as masterpiece, lol. Anyway thanks folks for all the positive comments.

Bravo on such an excellent conclusion to your piece, it is just incredible. There have been so few studies, that I can remember, of the human form in Zbrush, and I would call it a "Masterpiece". Thanks for bringing back one of my heroes of my youth.

Hi DM,

A big :tu: from me. I like the lighting and the tension in his pose, face and the chains :tu: :tu:

I find your choice of using noise so extensively throughout the scene to be both fascinating and effective. It adds a photo-graininess that is very interesting. All of the work that you've clearly put into this project has paid off!

Thanks Impending and Aurick. I found the noise gave me the chance to keep it more 3D, without it looking too shiny.

The image had to be uploaded again as it was missing, it must have happened over the last week when a lot of images dissapeared from their threads.
Anyway thanks Slosh, KingSalami and Stonecutter, your comments are appreciated.
Dave
Edit: Thanks Flycatcher.

Amazing image Dave! The modelling and texturing is superb and I think you've captured so much with the expression on his face :tu:

I remember that scene so well, even though I was a kid back then.
Great image, well executed. I like the overall effect of the grain... colorized old film feel to it. :tu: :tu: :tu: :tu: :tu: :tu: :tu:
