I'm brand new here. I just got ZB and been watching Primers tutorials. I enjoy the "banana" and " flashlight" tutorial very much. One question, I can't find ZGraphs at all after restarting ZB to make my own stuff. Thanks for your help!

When you first see a graph, it is always "collapsed" -- meaning that it's squished down to make more room for everything else. Click on the collapsed graph to expand it so that you can see and edit the points.

Only one graph can be open at a time. Opening a new one will collapse the last. A good place to watch this in action is the Material palette with something like the Basic Material selected. This material has a lot of graphs to play with, such as Diffusion Curve, Transparency Curve and Noise Curve. Another good place to look for them is the Tool>Modifiers>Initialize menu with the Gear3D tool selected.

Hi Enter
You have the most important Zgraph with the SweepProfile3D
Menu Tool/Modifiers/Initialize
With it, you can drawing a lot of things !
The only trick to know is this
For change the nature of a part of the line "Staight to Curve" or "Curve to Straight" you must take a "point" and keep the mouse pressed, make a "go and return" from the graph to outwindowgraph and return !
It's a very particular action but effective !
Have many fun objects Sweeping !

Hi all,

I chose a Cylinder3d tool, drew it on the canvas, then went to Tool/Modifiers/Initialize==> did not see ZGraphs. I tried other tools, only Gear3d, Sweep3 had a Zgraphs profile. Now I don't understand- does it mean NOT all tools come with a Zgraphs profile?

Thanks,

other 3d-tools that come with z-graphs are sweep-profile and 3d-terrain - just what comes to my mind, so there could be more :) i am not sure about the banana and flashlight scripts as its been long that i ran them... but maybe there is a bit of confusion: under transformation modifiers you will find a graph that changes the edit"brush"shape for editing 3d-tools.

edit: just watched the scripts again and loved them more than ever :) the banana is made from a sweep-profile that comes with a graph in its initialize settings, but theres no graph whatsoever used for the torchlights modelling - all adding different shapes to the front and backpart is done with editing in radial-symmetry!

That's true -- not all 3D objects have graphs. They are only present in places where they will help to define an exceptionally complex variation of the basic shape. A Sphere3D, for example, would have no use for a graph (at least, not one that I can think of), as the settings that are already available provide every variation of the sphere shape that you could want.
