View Full Version : winged
I was a little hesitant in posting both of these. who am I to show a work though ~G~ Since I have no clue what I'm doing? ...But I kind of liked the end result and considering what I started from it proves even ugly skinned object can still be saved. When I seen the result of the skinning, I almost trashed it, but wanted to try Mentat7's winged trick, so started playing, it evolved from there.
I also used Mentat and Aurick's tips on light/rendering to get "that look" had to have at least one with it.
Now that you're bored to tears I'll shut up. Thanks for letting me steal a minute.

For someone who claims to have little idea what they're doing, I'd say the results were pretty good, DLee! :tu: :tu:

What lighting tips are you referring too?? Can you give me a thread title or a link?
Thank you. :tu:
EDIT It was Stonecutter and Aurick's tips used.
That's the problem with so many good tips thrown in a million messages, I can never remember where I saw them. What I've started doing is if I see some little tid bit I c&p it into a notepad I've started for Z. Here it is. I'm sure Stonecutter and Aurick won't mind (if you do guys, slap me around. I can take it ~s~)

I use Blur-25, Edge-17, Sample Size-3, Super Sample of 2...You also want the color adjustment button selected, and you should experiment with the others in the render pallette.

The trick to getting "that look" is actually in two parts. The first is the lighting. The second part is your material Diffuse Curve.
Try changing the curve so that the left side dot is about 2/3 of the way up the side. The right side dot should be all the way at the top. Connecting them should be a straight line. As a result, the graph is almost completely filled with white except for a triangle in the top left. The material looks awful in the preview, but when the Global Shadows are rendered it ends up having that trademark high end "look".

Hey Dlee.......looks pretty gosh-darned good to me...... :tu: :tu: :tu:
Thanks everyone.
Also thanks to all those that help everyone here. Without their help Z would remain a mystery to us who can't read directions ~G~
Also thanks to those that encourage us.
