Well, I thought I too would post my first ZBrush model up for a crit. I've only been using this software for a short while and I love it. I have found it very hard to create ears and eyes however. Lots to learn. Let me know what you think.

Thanks!

Thanks for the comments! I really appreciate it.

I don't think I used ZSphere's...I just started with a grey 3D sphere (ZShere's are grey and red, right?). I then just messed with the brushes to see what they could do. I love the pinch tool!

I'm gonna keep working it and see if I can get more detailed, and fix problems.

Thanks again for the encouragement!

The cheeks seem to be completely wrong here - They're too edgy and it seems that the "flow" is not right.

But other than that, pretty nice!

Thanks for your input, I will rework that area. I was going for a chizeled look, but I can see what you mean, by too edgy.

Thanks,

Mark, I like the proportions of the head. Excellent first work. I can see what Tom is getting at about the cheeks, but they don't bother me as they do look chisled and that is the effect you are going for. You might just balance them out by inflating them on the sides
a wee bit. keep up the work, as it's inspiring
for me to see other's sculpting style...

Thanks Dickie for the kind words, and your crit was very helpful too. But I was wondering, you mentioned add more to the cheeks, well should I add more to the indented portion of the cheeks or just round out the Zygomatic arch so it's not edgy? Or perhaps do both?

I too find this forum extremely inspiring, and helpful. So many great artists here!

Hey Mark,

I've marked (hehe) the part where I'd add a little more fat by brushing with the inflat brush - In my opinion that indentation is way too harsh.

Mark, just a wee bit on the outside of the zygomatic arch should do it. Tom's second post has it nailed...
