cloning objects

ive seen that in many animated tutorials the objects are cloned by dragging them without using any tool at all i guess they are using some special key pressed or some command i dont know.. if any body knows what is that magic key please let me know so i would be able to sleep tonight.

this is the snapshot feature. these are not clones, but dropped copies of objects
