Just found out about ZBC's picture hosting...thanks a lot guys :D Easy to use even for a web idiot like meself.
Anyhoo, just a modeling test to see what I could get away with in ZB. I couldn't believe that the fingerprints actually worked :D To do them, I made a custom alpha (about 2 minutes searching the web for a stock picture, and another minute in photoshop), and painted them on in Projection Master with the deco brush. The mesh is about 650,000 dense, by the way. Any Comments? Crits? All welcome :)
really good job.Very detailed. :tu:
An excellent hand model, El Cheese! The fingerprints are a cool bonus. My only crit might be to lengthen the pad of the thumb a wee bit. Other than that I am always impressed with a fine hand model...: ))

Cool first try
Have you photocopy your finger for the detail ? (for making the Alpha)

Excellent first pass ElCheese! It's really shaping up!
The hand model I atempted in ZBrush I did purely for form, so your information about adding the fingerprints is greatly appreciated :)
Now, a few comments:
- the distribution of mass in the palm looks a little strange to me, with some odd lumpiness in the right middle of the palm and heel and top where the thump meets the palm. I think you could get away with removing a lot of that, extending the cup of the palm much further to the bottom of the hand. Of course, I may just have a skinny palm :)
- the pinky and index finger seem to erupt from the hand a bit abruptly, the pinky more so than the index. It would also be nice to see a bit of connective tissue between the fingers where they meet the palm. It seems a bit flat in there right now, although it may be hiddden by the flat lighting and wacky ortho camera.
Keep up the great work!

This is so well done that it invites deep nit-picking.
My nit: The fingernail ends could maybe be pulled away fron the findertips? The way teeth are done maybe or maybe with edge creasing?
Amazing work :tu:

Thanks for the crits guys.
One of my workmates gave me pretty much the same comments as you Headcrash, so I'll do a little fix. I do have a fat palm, but it's not that chubby :D
Good idea Jim, I'll try that.
I'm not sure which part of the thumb you're talking about Dickie, but looking at it now, the base of the thumb is a bit on the fat side as well, and the tip needs flattened a little too. Maybe that would make it look longer.
Frenchy...I used three custom made alphas, plus the skin texture and wrinkle maker alphas kindly provided by Rimasson in the practical manual. The custom ones took a minute or two of searching for on the internet, with a little bit of tweaking in photoshop.
Thanks again all :D
