1-I have been working with zspheres for a month. Does anyone have suggestions re generating a mesh that reflects the shape of the model in zspheres. I have tried using magnets,,,etc.

2-I cannot adjust the zspheres on the face symmetrically is there a way to fix this?

Here is the zsphere model.

You should increas IRES to make Adaptive Skin more smoother...
This is all what i can help you... :)

If you just want a mesh that reflects the shape of the model, then use Unified Skinning instead of Adaptive.

The thing to remember about Unified is that whether a ZSphere will contribute to the skin or not depends upon A) the resolution and B) the size of the ZSphere in relation to the largest ZSphere in the model. So if a ZSphere doesn't contribute to the skin you'll need to either increase the density of the skin or enlarge the ZSphere.

Note: Attractor ZSpheres are not used in Unified skinning.

What is the difference between a unified and adaptive skin? Which one is preferable for animating?

Please see my reply in your other thread, or read the explanation in the ZBrush 2 Practical Guide.

You can try holding the shift key down when clicking the adaptive skin preview to get a better resulting mesh. Also works with final adaptive skins as well.

Using this method doesn't actually answer your question about making the mesh exactly match the zsphere shape. Because it gives a smoother organic flow to the mesh, you'll have to tweak your zspheres, sometimes making them bigger in places than you would otherwise. In the mouse for example, you can see that the chest and thigh zspheres appear much more prominently in the zsphere model than they end up in the adaptive +shift mesh.

Let's see if it works for your horse!

PS. There is a symmetry restore zscript available on this forum somewhere. You'll have to do a search for it though.

PPS. I'm still in v1.55b, so I haven't a clue if this still works in Zv2.

Thanks Wenna, my pleasure! :)

Just another thing I noticed, avmics, is that you may want to add an extra zsphere next to the one at the base of the tail to get that definition between the rump and the tail which you have in your zsphere model, but is just turning into one big smooth shape in the adaptive mesh.

thanks guys, does anyone know what the shift key controls? The zsphere symmetry zscript does not work in 2.0.
