View Full Version : my problem with adaptive.

It seems that my meshes somehow get disrupted when I try to add new child zspheres, as in this example. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong or what other people do to avoid getting my result but I assume it is common since I manage it on most simple things. ;)

I was inspired to try more adaptive meshing but it seems I have more than a few problems than just with adjusting polys.

Any suggestions for my model? It's set to CSkin, 1, 6, 0, respectively. (The one at the top. ;) ) http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/zbc_uploads/user_image-1040109564hrh.jpg

It looks like two things are happening.

First, you are using a VERY low setting for the mesh density when skinning. It looks like a setting of 1. Try changing it to 2, instead.

Second, your ZSpheres are actually intersecting each other. This creates folds in the mesh. Try making them smaller or moving them farther apart. The only one that needs to be really large is the head.

While you are working with ZSpheres, you can press the "A" key to preview the mesh. Pressing A again switches back to the ZSphere view. This lets you move spheres around and resize them, then quickly see the results. As you practice, you should quickly get a feel for what happens when spheres get too close to each other, and how their size affects the mesh.

Also, don't forget that you may have to change your Ires (Intersection Resolution) setting if you have a lot of spheres coming off of a parent at odd angles (such as with a head with eyes, nose, ears and mouth).

Okay, thanks for those tips Aurick, Should help a lot. I do tend to overcrowd my zspheres. :)
