For those of you who use maya, if you use image planes like me PLUS also make your 3d object transparent for making it easier to see your drawing from both views. Why not do the same for zbrush, why not make a "reference image" button so what way not only can users learn from "standard" 2d drawings, but it will give them a better knowhow on creating extra detail.

For example, lets say I draw a simple outline of a person (one that looks like a Men's wachroom logo). I will be able to sucessfully draw him, but if I want to add muscles, I can simply edit the 2d drawing and then do some editing on my 3d object.

Also, there should also be a front AND side views for zbrush, this will make things allot easier, plus its not copywriteable towards AW.

thas my 2 cents, hope you guys like my idea.

see yaz bye.

There is a front and side view option. Check the zscript QuadQuick at zscripts->utilities.
Here is a quick link.

You can also import Reference Images into one layer (Just select Document:Import) to use as reference while working on your model on another layer. Also, you can turn "flatten layers" off and turn your material transparent using the transparency slider in the materials pallette so you can see through your object to the reference picture in the background.

quote:
...this will make things allot easier, plus its not copywriteable towards AW

I'm not sure what you mean by this. Could you clarify?

since you already solved my problem and im going to try your method of using those two functions. What I mean was having two views alrady there, but obviously that can be rearranged in the interface. With Maya, notice how some peole set their interfaces's up to haev two view, front and side view. Then they use image planes while at the same time, they also transparant their 3d moodels, making it easier to model with.

that is what I mean, hope you can understand that now heh.

Hello, Xion!

QuadQuick has two view modes: Quad View (four side by side, with individual background images) and Single View (just one view, taking up the whole canvas). You can switch from view to view with the touch of a button.

You can set your model to be transparent while you work by doing two things after you first press the Set Model button:

First, choose a material with the Transparency modifer, and set its value to whatever you please.

Second, turn off the Flatten Layers button in the Render palette.

ZBrush will then draw the models semi-transparent so that you can see through them while you work. However, the Single Views will not be transparent. Only the Quad Views will be.

I am currently working (in what little spare time I have) on QuadQuick2, which will offer these additional features:

1) Two more layouts -- side by side and three views (one larger, with two others stacked to its left)
2) The ability to assign a camera angle to each view port. The options will be Front, Back, Left, Right, Top, Bottom, Isometric and User Defined
3) A Transparency slider that will draw the model with a transparent value, but will leave the background reference images solid. This will work in all views.

I don't know how soon I will be able to finish QuadQuick2, but it will be made available at ZBC as soon as it's done.
