View Full Version : P.Boarder Development...
Two characters I am working on; companions for S. Blaster. Zsphere head modelling.
First head is for an underworld thug.
The second, a powerboard girl with an eastern look.
I'm still working on the bodies. :)

Excellent heads Grub! Could you post your progress with the bodies, I'm very interested in how you are tackling this challenge using low polygonal models. I've also been trying to create realistic bodies but I've run in trouble trying to do the hands and the feet in one single mesh. At this point I'm thinking of doing the hands and feet separately and then join them with the body in the final piece (the old 1.23b method). Here is a pic of my progres:

Oh, I have a question.. Rafeal, you mentioned a 1.23 method of joining models.. what might that be? I've been wondering how I might do that and recieve a decent looking product.
Thanks for the kind comments :)
Rafael- Good work there on your figure. :) Well, I'll be posting the bodies soon, mind though they are not low poly, nor are the above heads! They are high poly as they are just going to be static zbrush images.
Hands are very tricky, but it is possible to model them whilst attached to the mesh. But it would be much easier to model them seperately.
What is your intention for your character, a Zbrush image or for exporting to pose/ animate?

you do some great work Rob...drive on soldier, drive on... :tu: :tu: :tu:
Grub your head models are excellent-when they first came up I thought for a second the were ZRemodeled poser heads but they aren't-they don't have the poser stare-they are beautiful-hey I'm not putting down Poser-
some of the poser art is incredible-but alot has a blank look.Keep up the great work Grub!
Thanks Rhom, don't mention the P-word! Seriously though, I got no beef with poser fans, as long as they deal openly. :)

Ok, I'll post real soon :)
...after I get some shut-eye ;)

Grub- Even if they are not low poly, post your progress, I learn just by looking at how people approach a particular challenge. The body is more of an exercise to see how to do a low poly body. I think it's a sound approach but I need to learn more about anatomy to make it more realistic. I used it on an image that I put together for Mentat's "Mind Eye" thread.
Sotharon- There are different ways that you can join objects in 1.23. One of them is by using Multimarkers. Check the quicklinks for some excellent tutorials. What I used to do was to place each individual part one by one. First the body, then the head and then the limbs. Check this thread to see what I mean:

An excellent body to go with that excellent head. And thanks for another lesson in modeling with Zspheres. Kudos!.
Great models, Grub :tu: :tu: :tu:

Cheers for the pic EZ, you took me back to Kate Bush in the 80's!
Looks like hands are all the rage at the moment, gotta stay in fashion lol...
It's pretty tricky creating a clean mesh with no overlapping poly's when modelling hands, using adaptive skins. Here is a Zsphere tool that works a treat. With a bit of attention you'll get a fine hand out of it. The mesh is handy for export into other modelling packages, or for zpurists just further divide after lowpoly tweaking. :)

To get the highest detailed hand, I simply divided and smoothed the lower density version.

Thanks for the hand tool Grub. I'll study it carefully. Hey Jaycephus, I see that the low polygon modeling bug has bitten you. Nicely done hands.

and here's a little something I made. I'm trying to achieve a Plasticine look. I also wanted the eye to look like a pingpong ball. http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/uploaded_from_zbc/200304/user_image-1051570546tvc.jpg
Hey Uriash, I'm glad it's of use to you. :) Maybe it can help out those peeps who are having probs with overlapping meshes too... ;) :tu:
