Im having problems bending the ends of my board. Here's a couple of images so you can see what I mean.

I managed to make the shape of the board pretty nicely but I have no idea how to bend the ends... please help me with this if you have the time.

I'm pretty new to Z but I'm thinking using subdivision might help.

One way is to use the Deformations commands. Use Offset to move the object to a new center point (as denoted by the red crosshair in the preview pane). Then use bend or sbend to bend the end. Offset it again to the other end then do the same. If you have trouble post the board tool and I will see if I can make a script showing how to do it. Are you using the demo or 1.51?

hi, ride4pride :)
here is what i would try:
basic shape of board:
tool: sphereinder 3D
initialize:
xsize: 30
ysize: 5
zsize: 100
tradius: 30 or so
for bending the front and back edges up you could either activate x+z symmetry (if back and front bends are symmetric, which i am not sure of as i know snowboards not really good - if not, just work with x-symmetry on) and try to push them manually in edit-move mode (just hit "w" after having hit "t") and a somewhat smaller drawsize (this will also allow you to make the center part narrower by pushing)
or
try to apply the gradient alpha (i think its alphabrush 27) in the very same edit move-mode after applying a tool :modifiers :deformation :rotate :y :90 and trying to place the object into an exact horizontal position (there are different ways to do so) and hold down the ctrl-key while starting to drag from outside of object (if you run ver. 1.5 outside is crucial) - then flip the alphabrush horizontally (in alpha: modifiers) and apply it the very same way to the other end. invert the mask via tool:modifiers:selection:inverse. no give a try to a few deformations: gravity: y might do the trick, sbend as well. you can watch previews in the tool-preview-window :)
hope this helps and gives you a few ideas (and that there havent been ay typos that might be confusing you :))

Bah it didnt work... I can get that stupid board to bend in every other direction cept the one I want it to bend into!!! ahhhhhhh! Well I gotta sleep now. Take care
Oh and Im using 1.23B
To change the way the board bends you need to change two things. First, the (s)bend slider has x, y, and z modifiers, these will change the direction of the bend. Second, rotate the model in the Object Preview window. (It's in the Tool Palette.) Use the shift key to constrain the rotation. :)
