Is there a script, or can anyone imagine a script that would allow for assigning 2 AUVs worth of UV space to a model...and bake out and keep organized all expected maps?
I love AUVs and I want to branch out into higher detail, I am just wondering.
As long as you assign polygroupings that relate to each UV space a script could probably export the lowest subdivision level as a .obj and incrementally offset each group of UVs along the U axis, and finally reimport the .obj.
Right now you can do it manually by, for example, having 2 polygroup assignments. Hide the one polygroup, assign AUV mapping, hide the other group and assign auv mapping. Although all UVs are still in the 0,0 - 1,1 UV space you can again use the polygoupings to hide/view a set of AUVs and generate displacement and normal maps (I think).
