Hey all,

Received a request on making a mouth. Recorded a script, but it became corrupt and crashes ZB.

So, I thought I'd just post the results the old fashioned way with an image and the Z models.

the image shows the 2 stages of construction in terms of detail levels and how they look smoothed. The model is worked in low res, then the polygons are increased with DIVIDE to allow for more detail. I stopped here for clarity sake, and to imagine that this is part of a larger model (a head) You don't want to always increase the poly count of a whole model, so remember you can mask areas for that.

The bottom image is to show that the mouth isn't just flat, but is curved due to underlying structures such as our teeth. Always work your models in the round.

Here are the models for those who want to take a look (nice small file)

Hope you find this helpful.

I'm embarassed :(

I still cant do a mouth properly, those images just arn't informative enough for me.

Also, the mouth in the .ztl was made with a plain3d tool and god knows how you did it.

Could anyone help me with something a little more detailed, like maybe a script or something...Please? :)

A few tips for you Mr. Z...

Start with a low resolution

Use a low Draw Size with the Move mode

And it helps to look at the actual polys in a model. :)

Like Muvlo said! :D
You should try working in Edit dot mode, you can set dot mode in preferences, and then use move more than draw...You'll find you can shape your mesh a lot easier with move...

And it is much better to work in low rez, and then divide afterward.

Thanks Muvlo & SC,

I think that just might work, I'm going to give it a try soon, I'm just very busy remaking my INVASION pic.

Its looking 10x better than it did before all of you gave me those great tips!

Thanks guys,

- Shane

also make sure you enable a certain Axis (X,Y or Z) to move the points in 1 direction.

Thanks Ken for the tips! I didn't do this before cause you couldn't stay in the dots mode when you clicked on the 3D object and now with the PF mode, I can see what dots I'm suppose to move!
