I was bored today, so I decided to play with ZBrush. :) Well, after a bit of playing around, I found that it is possible to make a pretty good-looking head using the Spiral3D tool. First I started out with the spiral and set the Start Displacement (S.Disp) to 0. Then I used the edit tools to model the vague shape of the head. I divided it twice. (I should have masked the areas I wanted. Oh well. ) After more modeling, I came up with this guy. Everything, including his eye, is the single Spiral3D tool. I know he isn’t the best, kind of weird looking, but I did it in a hurry. Well, that’s all for now. I will see what type of head I can get from a Gear3D. O_o Lol.

Good work tishinina !! I have tried in the past to model from a primitive different to 3dsphere but never with the Spiral3d !! I try !!!
:D :D :D

Hey, pretty different. It turned out well. It is amazing how our fooling around sometimes pays off eh?

Interesting results :ex: I guess that this proves that if you can model, it really does not matter what you start with. It is that starting with certain shapes allow you to acomplish your goal with more ease.
Well done.
Was starting with this shape easier or more difficult than yournormal way :qu: :tu: :tu: :tu: :)

Hi Tishinina
You can modeling in 3D with all primitv 3D :)
There are here for that :)
So good enjoying and your blue head of (i think that is a human octopus :) is absolutly amaziing

Fasinating experiment. Of all the 3D primitivs, this seemed to me the most unlikely starting point for a head... until now. :tu: :) :tu:

Thanks for your comments :) To answer DeeVee's question, it wasn't that hard. It isn't as easy as working with a sphere becuase of it's shape and folds, but it works out pretty well.

Here's a good old Gear3D. :D

Very interisting idea, the results are awesome :tu: :tu: :tu: Would you say you could have modelled these particular heads as easily out of a sphere?

Well, Gerlon, I think it would be possible to make these same shapes with a sphere, but I'm not sure how easy the last one would have been made with the sphere. The spiky hair/fin might have been tougher. The gear tool had that natural shape, so it was easy to pull on that and add some noise with the deformation modifiers. The top one from the spiral could probably be made just as easily with the sphere. It just depends on what you want the final outcome to be :)
