Hi Guys,

Every Friday our small inhouse character artist team (3) will be doing excersizes to help us become better artists!

We will be posting all the results here for anyone whose interested.

Ill post the criteria and the results that we all came up with, so everyone can ( hopefully ) see what context we were thinking of whilst working!

Feedback and comments are always welcome :D in fact we hope to keep this going as long as we can and build a bit of a sketchbook of our combined works.

Week 1: To build a bust of an american indian ( male or female, young or old ) that has been inflicted with a disease and to show emotionally how the disease makes that person feel.

Sorry for double post - mods please help :o

Spaceboy412: Haha cruel! I just thought we need to pick a race with really distinct features, and american indians have such amazing faces, bursting with character.

Agree with you totally, the first one was a clear winner in the office :D

dajokerman: Thanks!

haha, thats a very creative way to learn, i like that you are concentrating on themes and emotions rather than obsessive detailing, you can spend time working on any of these and make them gr8, but capturing these themes i think is what is making these sculpts look so good

Vidar: Hey thanks man, yup thats definately the idea, i think weve already learnt alot. Its really beneficial.

Kupo: Thanks man :D dont worry weel be doing them every week on fridays, we should be able to look at these in a few years time and have a laugh!!!

Aiman: Exactly, youve got it right on the head, its all about achieving the theme and portraying it, we will do some detail studies at a later date, focusing on things like wrinkles. Eyes, eyelashes, hands, necks , ears, etc all the things that i believe really make a charracter.
