Looks pretty good :tu: , keep it coming :)
Definitely gonna try the materials, thanx
U-Jin
I think the quality of these renders are due to my crappy pc, but more specifically my 16mb TNT video card(noticable color banding in the renders), and this being the first model[wip] that I ever made with z2(not a very good mesh).
With that said, I think the materials work pretty well SoK! I liked what I got...And these are my results taken straight from z2 with no material or light variations...

Absolutely Great !
If you could accept an advice try to merge the latest settings for the skin with the fisrt one applied to the cartilagineous parts of the face such as the hears and the tip of the nose...and post the results it could look interesting...use masking to try these mix...worth a try...
Hope this works out even better results.

Thank's for the skinmaterials and lighsetups
I used your skinmaterial setup nr. 3 for this

Thanks for sharing this! They all look great, although I took down the noise and color bump. I think this is one of the best skin materials I've seen for Zbrush.

Nice job! :tu:
Yes, thanks SoK for getting this started. I like these as starting points much more than the ones I've been using. These two were modified in various ways- for instance, when you have a map already specifying various levels of red and whatnot already, the colorize diffuse has to be cut down, or the blend-amount in S1 killed. 2skin_vars.zip (http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/uploaded_from_zbc/200407/user_file-1085954940omv.zip)

Here is a render of my first clown with Sokar's
skin material. I used 3 lights, 1 main warm light and 2 Cooler lights. The second image (The one with more purples and contrast) is the
same image tweaked in photoshop.
I'm having trouble getting contrast in my render. I think it might be some settings in the skin material. I'll play more and see what I can come up with.
Either way, thank you Sokar for sharing your excellent skin material with us. It's a hell of a nice one...: ))

Good?
OK, I did a VERY quick and dirty paint job on the clown. I used Sokar's standard light and skin material. I definately like the feel of it...The darker image was a quick tweak in photoshop for a nice illustrative feel and richer color work...

for your material :tu: :tu:
(BTW, I love your "galeria magna" :tu: especially 2D"true love" is AWSOME...)
Thanks again SOK. Couldn't help messing with it more, so here's another variation. Can't recall everything I did, but it uses gel, a little reflection, and the noise function turned off completely. I do believe noise will slide over the surface if you render an animation or spin, which may not be something you want in a general-use shader.

nice stuff, I think a good further touch is to add some more skin details in texture, light veins, blemish, varying color as the blood is different, etc
could not resist using your skin nr.3 on this

Sok, now i am in trouble :) I looked for a skin mat a week ago and decided to adjust the one shown in the practical guide for my needs. What came out looks like this:
http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/uploaded_from_zbc/200405/user_image-1086041492eid.jpg
I have to say, that i tweaked the mat after the texture was applied, so the mat doesnt look like skin without the texture. but anyway, i shre it here: jerry-skin3.zip (http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/uploaded_from_zbc/200407/user_file-1086041593zry.zip)
then i tried your 1st material, tweaked abt 30 mins ( :) ) and what came out looks like this:
http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/uploaded_from_zbc/200405/user_image-1086041754qyw.jpg
i must say i like the colouring of the 2nd one, but... i cant see any skin details, like in the 1st pic, although the mat "simulates" detail. Now i dont know which one i should use... Maybe you can give me advice? ^^
Anyway - very nice material, sok!

Thanks Sok I've had a number of plays with your material and lights...........excellent.
Here is an experiment on a preliminary model I have been working on, when I have a spare moment.
Note the flat coloured ears.......that is from deleting a layer with nothing on it and it flattened the ears on the main layer....nothing I tried could fix that. No biggie as this is just a play version, but could have really pissed me off had it been needed. Could be a trap for younger players. One ear went black the other a flesh colour.
Anyway thanks again.

Hello guys, heres my first post on this site.. been using zbrush for 5 days and had a go with this skin material..< thanks for that< I like it a lot and think it looks good. a little shiny i think, needs a little less noise..

05-07-05, 09:36 AM
ps... how do you apply different materials/textures to different models in zbrush?
Thank you very much for the shader and all your work looks really great.
But I've three questions - 'cause my model doesn't look like these :)
Can I use the Skin Shader on an existing skin texture? I've an existing UVmapped texture applying different skin colors on different locations of the head. Can I use the shader to modify the underlying texture accordingly? When I use these shaders with a existing texture the skin looks very red (I believe the color values of texture and shader are added).
Can I "scale" the material stucture? On my modell it looks a bit noisy and not very healty skin. :)
The Shader is modifiing amongst others the reflection attributes of different light types, isn't? Can I just on the basis of this shader export a specular (color) map, diffuse (color) map, etc.?

Hi,
it actually started as a phone. The Page 196 Practical Guide tutorial.

Asked here, aurick answered. Responsive ZBrush Hotline 24/7 here...
That had me drift off a bit, yes. Itīs boob and spine and *else*.
Will probably try fibers and Projectionmaster for an even more
lifelike appearance. As soon as Iīm sure I wonīt get banned
for being obscene. Which is not intended. Itīs meant to be a study.

Thanks.

The materials and light files probably apply to zbrush 2, judging by the dates on the posts...You probably have to do something different with the later versions of zbrush. I recommend looking up KrakenCMT's shader it has a pretty good results that also lets you adjust the light set up a bit. Good luck!
