Here is a quick post on what I am working on now. This one I actually planned ahead to take snapshots of the process.

They never end up as they started..at least for me anyway. I am never really quit sure where the modeling is going to end up until at least half way through. You can see, I was going to make hm a stupid jock..until a stupid jock seamed boring for now...

I am sorry to say that due to poor plannig and a desire to make something cool for the halloween gallery, I am scrapping him and making a new head. One of the problems I am having is I haven't been able to get a good red skin tone/mat right. I think I am going to wait till tues night chat to ask the pro's some questions about skin dynamics. I will still do an asmodeus type image but I am going to go back to the drawing board and make some thumbnails first (its what I am used to). I also bought some books on villians and caricatures and I am trying to utilize what I learn from them to make my head modeling a little less real and a little more surreal. I would also wait till I got 1.5 but the release seems tentative at the moment so I am not sure what to do there either.

Thank you all for the comments though. I will keep you all updated.

Its darkness...but with a touch of caricature.

This is with the body and final touches.
Now just evil garb and background.

Updated - Changed everything. Lighting, all the materials, render settings, custom fog and environmental reflection. Almost there I think.

Ah and yes, I was going out of my mind a few days ago, but now that I have a kinda date for the update release, and now that they have my info ready, I can wait now. I am more calm also. There was a time when I was affraid I wouldn't get it. Pixologic failed to write to me about the prize until a few days after the contest results. That was the worst!

Question? and maybe its me and a faulty memory, but weren't Darkness's lips black? this is lookin pretty good though...one of my favorite fantasy characters in the movies...(spfx makeup buff)

Yeah, hey were a dark red...almost black but not black black..you know. I had him as such but it didnt look right...that or I didn't like how it looked like lipstick. :eek: This is darkness but then again it isn't...its just my play on the character. ;)

He is my fav also...save Balrog! :D

Well here is the final image. I was going to add some fine detail modeling to the pillars but I am getting a little burned out with this. I feel I have over worked the face with 2.5D brushes. But you know what they say in the art world, "You are your worst critic." :rolleyes: There are a lot of little things that I am unhappy with but I am keeping my mouth shut. ;)

Thank you everyone for your comments and suggestions. It helped in making a better image. A BIG Thank you to Mentat for if it wasn't for his suggestions on material changes and his information about skin texturing, D wouldn't look anywhere near as cool as he does now. Thank you!

I also made the image 900x674 for those who would like to use it as wallpaper.
