Hi all "Pixoholics"..

wanted to share the first creature I created in Zbrush..

The image was rendered in 3ds Max 3.1 with freeVray 1.09.. Why may you ask.. ;)
Because first of all I see Zbrush as a good/strong modeller/texturer..
Second, I rather had shared this image rendered in Zbrush.. but I still cant get any good lightning/shadows..

Cheers!

Welcome to the boards.
Getting the hang of ZBrush lighting can be tricky, but it can be done. Have you stopped by the QuickLinks section of the site?

:) Welcome to the Z-WORLD!! Very nice modelling and a cool character you got there.

Nice render that one, I think you could achieve something similar in Zbrush too, fiddling around with the shadow settings some :tu: :tu:.

Trevligt med en till svensk här också! ;).

If you want to get sharper shadows in ZBrush, akin to what you have here, your best bet would be to (in your lighting pallette) turn ZMode on, raise your shadow length to 300 or above, have a fairly low aperature setting, say below 20 and raise your Rays setting to 32 or above. You may want to do different test renderings using different settings until you find a setting that you like.

Hope this information was useful.

.. so guys ( and girls ).
I´m getting a little emberassed.

done some "fiddeling" with the light setups,
doing some posts in the morning.. ;)
but, when I all got your attention, the next
step I find somewhat hard is the perspective
and alignment issue..

Here..

Modelling, thats cool for now.
Lightning.. that i´m getting to..( thanks for all links and so..)
But the next big thing to get used to is when I reload a model I´ve done and want to build a nice composition with it, I find it hard to align in my Z-world, and all of the other pieces..( I´m used to think in camera terms.)
Its kind of backward thinking for me..
Like placing the camera on the beach and have to ask all the nice looking girls to come and pose for the camera, instead of me taking the camera to them ( wich i´m more used to ;) )..

Well .. small talk for now..and see you in the morning. (10 minutes to midnight)

Ill be in touch!
