View Full Version : Modeling while smoothing is on?

Is it possible to have zbrush remain in smooth mode while modifying an object? When I use the transform tools (like Q ZADD for example) the model switches to poly view until I finish a stroke. I'd like it smoothed while I do the stroke.

It's OK, my computer can take it! :)

Oops! I was wrong. Sorry about that. Here's the correct answer:

You can turn on Quick Edit Mode in the Preferences palette. This is especially useful when combined with the PolyFrame view in version 1.51. While in QEM (which must be active for the PolyFrames to be turned on), the object will not smooth until it is actually snapshot to the canvas.

I'm actually interested in the opposite... I want it to ALWAYS be smoothed, even while I'm ZADD'ing to it.

At issue is that for lower resolution objects, the poly view is so much diff, than the smoothed view.

Thanks!

While in edit mode (Keyboard shortcut T), go to the preferences palette and turn off Quick Edit Mode. Now this will show your model with smoothing on. Unfortunately when editing ZBrush changes mode to display the 'live' stroke but on mouse up (unclicking) it then displays the changes smoothed. I dont think you can change this but its the closest thing right now. A quick tip for you though. If your adding to your model and after the stroke, realize you need to make the same stroke but with different properties, alter your ZAdd or RBG and what not and then hit Ctrl+1 and it will repeat the last stroke but with the new properties. It a small tip but help me out tons when I learned of it.

Good luck!
