Hello,

I'd like to know what are the options to tune if I want to improove the speed of the display when I work.
My screen resolution is often 1600x1200 and very often, when I work on Zspheres or 3Dspheres, Zbrush shows my object in wireframe when rotating or moving it and it's not really efficient and it takes time to go from shaded to wire and then from wire to shaded.. http://perso.wanadoo.fr/graphinc/wire.jpg
(the spphere is rotating and is in wireframe)

Do you think I have to work with a lower screen resolution ? what can I improove ?
(I work on a 2.2 Ghz computer with 2 Go Ram, so I don't think I have to change it now :) )

thank you

Hope this help :)

je n'arrive pas à trouver le moyen de supprimer le mode "dots" .. où se trouve l'option ? (j'ai seulement trouvé un potard qui permet de régler apparemment le nombre de facettes déclenchant le mode dots)

Hi :)
ZBrush will switch to wire-frame mode whenever the size of the transformed object is larger than the ‘ADots’ value (which is located in the PREFERENCES ::DRAW subpalette).

The default value is 800, setting this value to maximum will prevent ZBrush from automatically switching to wire-frame mode.

Hope this helps,

If you're workin on a really large document, you will also find that a very useful approach is to lay your scene out with a scaled down version. For example, if you plan to create your image at 3200x2400 in size, lay it out at 800x600. This makes it easy to see the entire scene, and is also much less of a drain on your system. Place markers for each element as you go.

When the scene is fully laid out (meaning that all the big objects are placed), clear the canvas and then resize your document to the actual size. At this point, I normally like to set Preferences>Markers>Marker Radius to something really high so that I can easily find the markers on the canvas. Now just activate your markers to redraw each object in its proper position and scale -- without any difficulty at all. The markers record the size of the object relative to the canvas size, so everything appears just exactly as before in relation to the document. But because each object is drawn fresh, its edges are smooth (as opposed to the bad jaggies you'd get by simply enlarging the canvas).

Aurick :

I don't understand how to use the technic you describe... is there any tutorial I can read ? I think there is a step I miss because I can't find my object back when I clear all the screen.

1) Draw and place your object
2) Press M to place the marker.
3) Repeat steps 1 and 2 as necessary
4) Clear the canvas
5) Resize the document
6) Move the cursor to the center of where each object had been. A dot will appear when you get close. That's the marker. Click on the dot to activate the marker and redraw the object.

Note: If you turn on Marker>Tool, then click twice on each marker. The first time will select the object that the marker was for and the second time will draw it. If Marker>Tool is not active, then the marker will draw whatever tool is currently selected. If no 3D object is selected, then nothing will happen.
