Yet another way to create a decent looking tree, this time bigger variations are possible with better detail.
Work on two layers, one for the branches (isolation), the other for the corona.
First I used the sphere brush tool to create the basic outline of a tree from the top to bottom.
Then, use the snake hook brush at default settings to pull out the branches in a large tree shape. Paint over this layer with settings at ZSUB and varry different textures and colors. I used several variations as well as the shading enhancer brush, along with texture02.
Proceed to create the corona by selecting a foliage color and the 3d brush, I used a dots alpha(23) to pull out the strokes. When you are finished, light up the needles some more.
This is more useful in making a large tree.
