Hello Everyone,
First post here! My name is Michael and I was the 3rd place winner of Zbrush1.23 from 3D Communes' zbrush contest this past October. I must say that this program is amazing and I am looking forward to learning all I can! The Zscripts are IMO ingenious! There are a lot of talented artists here! Well, here is my meager first attempt at using the full blown version of Zbrush! My first head model. All Zbrush, except my logo and Jpeg conversion.
Thanks for viewing!

Welcome, and also congratulations! Glad to see you over here, too. New stuff is being learned every day, so you'll probably never get bored with this place. :)

This pic is really unique. Whatever that is going through his nose looks painful, though!

cool pic, it looks like beat copper or something. I'm a new-comer myself, but i can tell you that you will love this program. it does tend to consume your life though. which isn't really a problem with me. good luck modeling.

Geez, Thanks everyone for the kind words and making me feel welcome! I've been going through Zscripts and I even printed the manual! I am already hooked! This program is everything I anticipated and more! WR- I already let CGI consume my life long ago! I can't help it... I live it I dream it(literally) Now I just gotta make room for Zbrush... that won't be a problem though, seems like some of my other apps are going to collect some virtual dust!
Unfortunately I dropped this head model before I knew to save the tool! duh!
Coming to grips with it, I think! ;~)
I will be sure to post more of my images here! Thanks again!
Michael

Outstandingly realistic pic, especially for your first posting. I could reach out and touch it. The only problem with a first post of this quality is that it sets a high standard that you always have to equal or exceed. But that's OK. You show the signs of a true Zaddiction, I can tell. Welcome. :tu:  :tu:

By the way, with which other 3D programs are you acquainted?

Thanks again everone,
Nikko, Here is the list of my arsenal;
Bryce4.1, Poser4.0.3, Rhino2, Truespace5.1, Photoshop5.5, ImageReady2.0, TreeDruid1.1, a few other smaller apps like Uvmapper, OBJto3DM, etc... and now Zbrush!
I'm college certified for Autocad, QuarkExpress and Illustrator but I have yet to get those programs... on my to do list.
I would like to try my hand at Maya, 3DStudioMax, and Lightwave... Well out of my price range though.
I guess that about covers it. Do you use multiple apps too?
I have a huge Bryce gallery at 3DCommune.com
if you are interested?
My goal is to get my own website up this year!

Hey Paul,
Thanks bro! I am having a blast with this program. Methinks My artwork will never be the same. I'm in the primary stage of addiction as I'm sure you are too! I haven't been this intrigued since I first tried my hand at CGI!
Now all I need is a connection from my computer to my brain! ;~)

PusGhetty, I think everybody here has a number of different apps in their arsenal. I've got quite a few, but the only ones I feel I have a degree of expertise in are Photoshop, Illustrator, and XARA. I've bought three different versions of CorelDraw(5,6,& 8) and I pretty much don't use it any more, 'cause it can't touch Illustrator or XARA. I haven't used AutoCAD since I was laid off nine months ago, so I know those skills are a bit rusty. And I'm only about one percent as good in Zbrush as I'd like to be, but this stuff takes time and sooner or later I'm gonna have some more of that!

Nikko,
Sorry to hear about your layoff... seems the economy is down right now! Lots of layoffs here in Colorado too! Everybody is selling!!
I work at home as a freelance graphic designer and as a mechanical draftsman.
Times are tough right now though... hang in there! Are you a mechanical or architectural draftsman? I too am at about 1% of where I want to be with Zbrush! Maybe not even that much!
If only there were 70 hour days!
Take care,
Michael

Mechanical. PusGhetty, I used AutoCAD to do highly detailed tire template drawings, then translated that info, using a program called Gcode, into data a wire EDM could use to burn the templates, all at very very close tolerances, 1\10,000 of an inch.

Very boring stuff compared to doing creative artwork with a program like Zbrush, but it's irrelevant now because the whole industry I was in is in the worst recession I've seen in my life.

For the past many, many years before I did that, I sculpted the originals for the molds that made the tires on all our cars. There's an industry I no longer want anything to do with whatsoever. I'm trying to get some freelance graphic design stuff going, but in my part of the country, it's rather difficult.

Glad you're Z-ing now.
