Great robot, P! :tu:  :tu:
One suggestion I might make is to replace the 'default desert reflection map' with one of your own...You can get in touch if you want to know how to do this...this will allow you to create any feel you want for your metal.

I like shiny things, and shiny robots with buttons and gizmos are even better. I love this robot you made. It looks like you even have insulated wires, or some sort of colorful hose or tubing inside it, cool!

outstanding Arran!!!!!!yer doing a great job with the mechies.....always an inspiration for me ....and SC I would also like info on using something besides a desert scene in the reflection.... :tu: :tu:

Okay Ron, here's a little script, where I select a material at random, apply a reflection map, then play with some material properties...
RelectionMapping.txt (http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/zbc_uploads/user_file-1015286115svu.txt)

It produces this image...
http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/zbc_uploads/user_image-1015286153iua.jpg

This technique will work to apply any image as a reflection, so Arran for instance, could render his robot, import the render as the new reflection map, rather than the default desert one, and have his own reflection... ;)
Hope this helps...

Thanks for the comments and suggestions, I was thinking of chaning the material reflection when i have created a backgroung image, then I can grab that image and use it in the reflectio, oh and by the way [EA]Krippler about the gradient shaded background:
Fill background layer white
Select brush 27 which is a gradient alpha.
Select single layer brush
select colour white
Select DragRec from stroke pallete
Then start from the centre of you layer, drag out to edges and release, you may have to rotate the alpha first. This only takes a couple of seconds.

I must work on the other robots soon!

Looks great so far. You have a definite eye for detail and the patience to go with it. Can't wait to see the other robots and the finished piece.

At last I got a chance to get the second robot done, I have a full picture in mind now of what the finished image will look like. It's just a case of finding the time to do it. I will be getting a new Dual 1GHZ processor G4 tomorrow at work so I guess I wont be spending much time at home, so best be taking Zbrush in with me.

These inovative robotic designs are just fascinating! They look so hand-crafted and unique. I can imagine "Ye ole Robot Craftsman" in some backalley of Barstoon creating these on Alpha Prime.

And then there were three, still got to make the background image, and then use it in the reflection on the materials used. http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/zbc_uploads/user_image-1016060428mqh.jpg

Hey P, first I'm not a fan of the repetitious robot/monster things that keep showing up here on the forum, but you have added enough originality that this one works for me...! That is a lovely mechanical trio, and I'm looking forward to your updated reflection, and the resultant integration of these guys...
Nice job! :tu: :tu: :tu:

*claps* the three are so different and yet adhere to the same technology. Very convincing detail in my opinion. I sure am awaiting the finale!
