Here's the starting of my new project. This is my first human head besides the kinda cartoonish viking head i did a while back. i've mostly just done monsters and the such, so this will be a challenge. The head tool isn't finished, so i'd like some tips on how to make it better. also, if anyone has any ideas to make the hair look more realistic, please post them. i used snake-hook and fiberbrush tools for the hair. thanks...

Very Kewl Indeed :D Superior modeling and that hair effect is great --I know this one will be a knockout when finished :tu: :tu:
good head start for the hair to look more realistic you have it there all i would do is use the SMUDGE Brush and check your intensity and mess with Like zadd off and on just play around but defiantly SMUDGE Brush it

Hey Jib, I think that's a great start for a realistic head... :tu:
One thing to consider, is assymetry...Most peoples faces aren't totally symmetrical. If you add assymmetry, you add expression. A lip, lifted on one side very slightly can show fear, rage, confusion, all depending on what the eyes are doing, in concert with the lips, the facial muscles, etc. The thing is to start with symmetry, then move on...Otherwise, you end up with a statue or figurine appearance.
You also would want to consider the alpha texture possibilities...I prefer to do this once I snapshot the model to the canvas, and also to apply these textures without symmetry, to achieve more realistic skin textures. I find these are best built-up slowly with very low ZIntensity, and a very large brush size, often as large as the whole side of the face.
Hope I've given you some starting points, Jib, and this is a nice face you're on the verge of! :tu: :tu: :tu:

Awesome start. It has movement and feeling even at this early stage.

Youve done an excellent job on that hair, I can't offer any better advice than those above, but some nice strong features on that face would look cool, cant wait to see this one, especially how the hair turns out when your happy with it.
Cheers
Arran
Awsome! I love the wild, windy look to it. And the hair is looking great. :)
Looks like an awesome start to me, as well. I really like your approach to the hair; it has a very wild look to it that's quite dramatic. I'd probably play a bit with the blur brush to soften the lines a bit, but that's all.
You are on your way to another super image. The hair looks like that of a Rasta man to me. I think if you play with the draw tool and change the shape of the brush from round to oval using the fiberbrush and the snake hook you might just be surprised. I am a newbie, but that method has worked for me in the past.

Here's the next update. i'm not done modeling the chest and i haven't made a texture for it yet, but i thought it was time for an update. plus, i don't want to give away exactly how he's gonna look, so...

i know the chest hair's a little bit funny looking, but i'll work on it.

And now for the Hunter's weapon. The sword was not multi-markered together, i just put it together on screen. the fire designs on the blade are an alpha, just put onto the blade. The jewels are just glowing spheres. this sword is copied of a sword from the game Rune, that was my favorite game a while back. well, that's about all i have to say. oh yeah, it'll probably be smeared w/ blood in the final picture.

Love the torso...I thought i had posted already about it...but you did an outstanding job so far on it....and I like the beard that I can see on the chin of the hunter....you did a great job laying that hair on the torso I think....reminds me of my old frame before all of this gelataneous material appeared on me...snicker..well keep us posted...how long did it take you to do the torso to this point? :tu: :tu: :tu: :tu:
GREAT skin texture, it looks perfect. :)
:b2: Edit, I missed the second page! The new stuff is looking awsome. :)
I do not see much wrong with the chest hair. The weapon is also well done. I am looking forward to seeing them all put together in your project.

thanks for the comments, everybody.
Ron, the chest took probably 2 hours at the most. i'm not quite sure how long it took. there is no modeling on the back and it doesn't look right from the side, so it didn't take me a real long time.
Deevee, i consider you a master of the fiberbrush, so i really appreciate your comment about the chest hair.
thanks again, everyone.
and here's the next update...his flag. i don't know know if this symbol on the flag will stay (if anyone has any ideas for another symbol, please post them). the ropes holding the flag on might change, but everything else will stay essentially the same.

Very nice work. I like the texture, and the use of alphas.
I am REALLY enjoying this process. Thanks for sharing your hard work.
The hunter himself is VERY impressive!!
Can't wait to see the compilation!
