Really beautiful Matthew! :tu: :tu: :tu:
That spray and foam on the water is perfect, and the evergreens are texturally rich and lush...Some of your very best work, and a fantastic conception and execution of a pastoral vision!

Thank you, everyone. I'm overwhelmed. This scene took about 5 hours yesterday, and was really a lot of fun.

The waterfall was done using Kaz's technique to displace part of a plane. The mountains were created from two SweepProfile3D objects that I then modeled a bit. The foothills were large masses with a vegetation texture wrapped onto them. I copied and baked the layer, then used the Fiber Brush tool with the Picker set to Continuous Color and Other. A similar technique was used to paint the vegetation in the foreground onto the rocks -- in that case, though, I had already snapshot them to the canvas with their texuture. So I created two other layers. One was a duplicate of the rock layer. The other I filled with NoisePattern3 and baked it. Finally, I used the Cloner Brush to copy the color from the filled layer to the rock layer. Then I was able to delete the filled layer, bake my good copy of the rocks layer, and paint the fibers on using picked colors from the green-shaded rock layer (which I displaced 5 along the Z axis so I could see the good rocks). In retrospect, I could also have just used my markers for the rocks to create new ones on a second layer without texture and using the NoisePattern material. Oh well.

To finish the whole thing off, I exported the final image and then imported it again into a new document. Filling the layer with it on the Flat Color material, I used the blur brush to smooth out the waterline on the distant shore and also the base of the waterfall. I then painted the mist in using an appropriate alpha and finished it with the intensity brush to let certain areas catch more light. (Thanks to Southern for the technique of reimporting the image for finishing.)

Thanks again! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
