View Full Version : Script Problem?.....Help please

I am running into problems with recording scripts for some reason.

I have tried to create a number using the default recording of the ZBrush start up....and just letting it record my actions.

I am aware of the resizing pitfall...so don't use that, and I ensure that I begin with the 3D sphere. I'm afraid I do not have the time to read through all posts on scripts here.....let alone really know what I'm looking for. I have had no problems in the past, until I re-downloaded ZBrush 123b. Everything is in the right directory, and no dots separating directory name.

I have included a script here for those interested in solving my problem. I intended to post some scripts on modelling, but to date none have worked.

This script is one where I was testing the script creation.....I [/URL]THINK it produces the model shown (an unfinished, strange approach to modelling the human head....really just me mucking about).

If anybody can help I would be grateful....and be able to begin posting scripts.

Thanks.

Hey Ed,

I'm not sure what problem you're having. I downloaded your script, and it seems to run fine. What happens when you load this script?

However, I don't think that the script you posted results in the pic you posted. I had to abort it after about an hour(!!), because at that point, it looked like you still had a LONG way to go. Here's where I aborted it:

I noticed that during this particular modelling session, you pretty much stayed on the "Move" tool. You might want to try using the Draw tool (with zadd/zsub) instead.

Take it easy,

Hi Ed, This is frustrating because I would really like to see your technique. The face you posted is beautifully done but I'm getting the same thing as Thor when I run your script. I was also having problems with scripts done in the "autorecord" mode so I tried this: In the pref>zscript panel turn off the autorecord button. Then in pref>config choose save configuration. Restart your zbrush program and now you will have to click the "record" button in the zscript panel to start recording your modeling session. This might be worth a try to solve your problem.

Thanks Zoid I'll try what you suggest....technique is basic...low settings, no dividing the mesh (as I find I end Up with a mess) I will post a finished script as soon as done.

Hey Thor,

You got remarkable patience :) The script does seem to be locked into the Move tool......but it was only used 50 percent of the time. Thanks for looking ,

Another possibility, Ed:

Did you at any time use the spacebar-drag to move the canvas? It's a slim chance of that, since you didn't change the canvas size, but it's worth asking. ZScripts don't currently record that action. The result is that every time the canvas view was scrolled while recording, the script gets thrown more and more out of whack during playback.
