:) hello! of course, this drawing is in the same serie that machine flesh, but... as it is going to be in foreground, I've tried to achieve the texture a lot, to be ok in close up; I join a little part of the texyure , and as you see, there is a lot of use of alphas brush, in 2,5;especially the package of Glen southern!; all is zbrush, except of course the background, which is a photo of my summer vacations, applied on a 3d plane; I've used on that drawing the set up that Mr Alon create for his dino: the white dino shader, and the light set up... it's very good set up,and with cavity now that material match so closely global illumination! I a m intrigate by it: is there on the forum an explanation of that curious material, which seems so overexposed at the first try, and "come on" with the lights?... friendly.M. http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/uploaded_from_zbc/200405/user_image-1085817101uqj.jpg

Nice stuff, Marcel.

My only concern is that a hammer wouldn't be classed as a machine.

Beautiful work though. :tu:

The eye probably works by clockwork, cwahl.

in english, machine doesn't mean anything which is not natural, or alive? I mean, a tool is'nt a machine,?well... it doesn't matter, as I do that for me,( and on a very secondary process, for the cg talk challenge...)in fact,I do the same in the 2d entry... changing my idea each week...

Another fine picture Marcel. If I could make one little critique it would be to experiment more with the metal material - perhaps to make the highlights sharper.

I think the materials you are talking about that come right with the lights are the tri and quad shaders - there was a thread started by Mahlikus about subsurface scattering in which people experimented with them.

I used to do archery a while ago, but I don't know what 'amo' means - now I am curious.

PS: I guess in English a machine is often more specifically applied to something that has mechanical moving parts.

PPS: I took a look at AMO and it explains why I didn't know it - I bought my bow from a local guy called Charlie the Bowmaker - it was a nice rosewood bare bow and was measured in poundage (draw weight).

Amazing stuff...but, how do you do that cross over from rusted metal to flesh...that looks amazing, is it all one single material, or more? Is this a special tech?

Congrats on one more amazing piece of work :D

Fantastic texturing Marcel! Your vacation pic looks interesting as well.

The thread Bonecradle mentioned was a good one with experiments in cg lighting and materials, don't remember too much explaining going on but I know I use a material or two from it with my own lighting and tweeks.

Hi Marcel,

The thing I really like about your fresh approach to the Machine-Flesh challenge is that it doesn't begin with the preconceived notions of those Terminator-style composites - steroid-pumped body parts covering electronics-and-mechanical skeletons - that have been done a million times.

Definition of a Machine: Any mechanical or electrical device that transmits or modifies energy to perform or assist in the performance of human tasks.

That would certainly include simple hand tools and of course, weapons of any kind.

Your hybrid warriors are absolutely unique!
