I was Showing some of the photos of my trip to a friend last night, and it occured to me that Pelicans are very rare in the Cayman Islands, yet very plentiful in the Eastern Caribbean, so that was the genesis of this image. http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/zbc_uploads/user_image-1033664047ntc.jpg

well I like the pelicans also....coz from what I gather from our inland gulls and from what I hear about seagulls and pelicans is that they will be where the fish are schooling :) nice job Joe :tu: :tu: :tu:

Nice image Joe. Again. :)
Living where you do, there must be amazing amounts of reference "material", to keep you fired up with your painting. Which gives the rest of us here a glimpse of your world. :)

Your comments are greatly appreciated.
F9, you are right , there is a lot of material to work with. However, with my imagination, I never know what it will come up with. :D :D

You have made another nice natural scene Deevee, the addition of the pelicans adds that bit extra. :) :tu: :tu: :tu:

Wonderful image, only suggestion I have is to perhaps change the material used in the foreground to match that in the backround, but maybe that wouldn't work :p

Well, let's hope that's two breeding pairs, then. Nice work, Joe, the birds are well observed. :tu: :tu: :tu:

Thanks to everyone for your comments.
G, I agree with you, the foliage in the midgroud is OK, what needed changing was the tone of the distant hill. It needed a little more blue or a reduced intensity to throw it further back. If I do an update I will certainly try that and see what happens.

Update 10-4-02:
I decided to do something with the background hill. The spraybrush was used. http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/zbc_uploads/user_image-1033765375tlt.jpg

that addition gave it a bit more depth....something else...at least I notice on rocks around here close to the water is that they will have like algae or moss build up around the bases of the rocks..moisture and fungi thing....that may be different around salt water? I have never been around the rocks or should I say the sea or ocean before...so that is a shot in the dark for me...well at least hurrican Lili doesnt seem to be bothering the pelicans....rained most of the day here due to her, but we need it ...nice update Joe :tu:

Hi Ron thanks. We do get a vegetative growth on rocks where the water is very still, in areas where there is a lot of movement we seldom find growth on the rocks close to the water line. Underwater though, there may be some growth of various species of sea weed. Locally known as turtle grass for obvious reasons.
