What is the buzz about? Wizards... Actually, I created this wizard as a bishop for a huge Zbrush/Poser chess scene my brother Josh (jibberish) and I are making. This is my first completely finished piece, and I thought I'd post it as a very beginning of a WIP. The Wizard was created out of one sphere, with the ball and base polymeshed in later. Hope you like him... many more to come!

fantastic hood, very expressive hands, awesome silky background, and a very solid feel to the wizard figure. I love it!

I'm impressed with everything you've done here! That's going to be a mighty nice chess board when you're done.
The face has a terrific amount of character through both his modeling and texturing. Top notch!
By the way, you can get rid of the polymesh polygons before you snapshot something to the canvas by using two modifiers in the top of the Tool>Modifiers menu. First, set the Smooth value to it's maximum of 1. Then if you still see some polygons, raise the Divide value from its default of 3 until they're gone. Doing this enables ZBrush's subdivision algorithm to seemingly increase the density of a mesh without actually adding to the geometry. The only drawback is that the higher the value, the more processor-intensive it is (which is why it's best saved for right before you snapshot).
Once again, a superb job! It looks like you put a lot of time into this.
WOW!
That's all I have, just WOW!
This is VERY well done modeling out of one sphere.
GREAT concept and execution. Beautiful colors also.
I'm really looking forward to seeing the whole game board!

Nice modelling and choice of hue! Looking forward to more from you on this theme!
Great work! :tu:  :tu:
That's going to be an amazing chess board when you two are finished.
The wizard turned out great. The detail and texturing are very nice. It's hard to believe it started as a single sphere.

hey thanks so much for all your comments. Aurick, thanks for the tip on smoothing, I didn't think to .. duh... smooth beforehand, but I'm not sure how much it will matter, since I'm not sure my computer will be able to handle a document large enough to show the figures this large.
Dr. jjwow, i actually thought about putting in a transparent globe floating over his hands, but it's easier to have his as one piece, so we can move him around, etc, in the final picture.
thanks again everybody.

One fine image! Your choice of color, the skill level of modelling.... I am impressed, to say the least! :tu: :tu: :tu:
Really cool wizard Buzz. :)
Great modeling, the robe and face are really neat. I like how you added the colors to his chest to give the appearence of glow from the ball. Can't wait to see the rest! :)
