I'm currently working on a low-poly Orc, which you can see here:

Low-poly Orc (http://www.cgchat.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=18926)

But, I wanted to make a normal map for this guy and see how it would look. So I started working on his details in Z2. I'm not finished with him, as he's only 91,000 polys so far, so hopefully this will turn out pretty good. Gotta love the Z.

I'm going to do the whole model, not just the body. So I'll post them up whenever I get them finished.

Thanks for looking.

This is going very nicely wchamlet, I'm not very keen on the helmet design but the proportions and appeal of the character are very good. Keep it up!

Thanks for the replies everyone. The crest on his head is not a helmet. It's a horn. Or at least it will be. It's kind of a makeshift communication device, for calling over vast distances, and is actually a part of his body, rather than attached to it.

I'll finish the back and arms tonight. Then on to the other parts of the model.

Amazing so far. It's your best model to date, IMO. :tu: :tu: :tu:

nice model, although his friends have been known to call him dick-head and schlong nose from time to time... ;)

Excellent work Chad...I know I learned some anatomy tips from looking at your model...: ))
Very nice lo-poly too. My only suggestion for the lo-poly is another slice at the knees. The way he is modeled now his knee might deform
strangely when bent. Other than that I an inspired by your work, my friend...: )

Thanks for the help with the LP model. I'll update the LP when I start working on the rig/anim for Unreal 2004.

Does an orc have human feet ?
Pilou stranger in the orc world :)

I always thought that Orcs were pretty much man shaped. They were physically altered elves and became their own race. So since elves are pretty much man shaped, I'd assume an Orc would be too. So as far as feet, I'd guess five toes. Maybe some fungus. LOL

OK, I've been working on this guy all day, about 10 hours actually, and I've got the body pretty much finished.

And the textures, which are still WIP.

Hopefully I'll have most of this guy finished by tomorrow. Oh yeah, everything is Zbrush except for the final image with the grey wireframes. That's a screenshot from Silo, just to test out the texture in another app besides Zbrush.

Thanks for looking.

Here's the final update on the Orc. I ran into a bunch of problems with this guy, and I have learned a lot about how to work with normal maps, etc... Now that I know more about how this stuff works, I think I am ready for a portfolio. Or at least ready to start making one. Anyway, here's the last update to this guy, enjoy.

I wish I would have planned the UV's better, because it's almost impossible to paint certain parts of this guy. So instead of redoing the whole thing, I decided to call it quits on this guy and work on a better planned model next.

Thanks for looking.
