I'm seeing something weird and I'm not sure if it's ZB's exporting or Wings 3D's importing.
When I create an adaptive skin from a zSphere model, export it, and import it into Wings 3D as an .obj, once it gets into Wings, the model is composed of a bunch of objects/models where each object is a series of non-continous faces. I don't have any screenshots handy, it was just something that I ran into last night at home.
Has anyone else seen this issue?
I can fix it by just combining them all of course in wings. I just wondered if it was something that I was doing wrong.
Thanks!
Does Wings have a weld option when you're importing?

I have seen this lots of times and have had a few discutions on the Wings forum about it.
First if the mesh has any kind of holes in it you will get what you are talking about. Or if you have some zspheres that dont work well when you skin it wings will not know how to handle it and you get the same thing. If you have a pic or post the model I coulds look at it for you and tell you whats wronge.

When you export make sure that the grp option in the export menu is not pressed. That should do it.

There's a weld function in wings, but it does not fix the issue as it apparently does not see the faces as coincident. I can do what's called Combine, but the object is still pretty messed up when I try to smooth it as essentially what you have is an object composed of a bunch of individual faces.
For example,
If you have a simple object with 2 quad faces you would have 6 verti (vertexes?). But when it comes into Wings it's composed of two seperate faces each with 4 verti.
It's not every object. for instance if I import a Sphere3D that's been sculpted it works OK. Most Zif derived objects do not.
Not a huge deal for me right now, but it may be in the, so I'll try to spend some more time figuring it out.

I'm not sure if the problem is in Wings or Zbrush but it has to do with how the mesh is divided in groups. If you export your object as a single group you don't get the same problem. This is the same problem that you emailed me once about Aurick, but I can't locate that old thread where I posted the solution. Making sure that the grp button is not pressed should take care of your problems Monkeyfarm

Thanks... I'll have to try that.
I did open up the objects window in Wings and noticed that there was a bunch of groups:
Here's how it appears...
ZBrush_Default_group
PSChain
ZBrush_Default_group
PSChain
ZBrush_Default_group
PSChain
ZBrush_Default_group
PSChain
Must be an option on the export about grouping that I didn't see the first time.
