Hello all.
I created a little video to aid my learning process of this really cool program. I thought I would share it in case anyone else was wondering how it works.
1.95MB QT Video (http://www.uberwave.co.uk/zbrush/zbrush3matcap.mov)
Steps:
1. Copy a matcap material.
2. Paste matcap material.
3. Document | Import | Select image.
4. Enable MatCap tool.
5. Click the first point to select the over all colour.
6. Click and drag a few points around the image to sample different shades.
7. Click on a highlight, and while your still holding the click, press and hold Ctrl. Now when you move your mouse, you will get different highlight values.
I hope its of use to someone.
Cheers.
Thank´s for this mini tut!
Keep em comming!

When in MatCap mode, if you want to delete ALL existing matcap pointers with one button press to start over, click on MultiMarker>Delete All.

Phil,
One other caution, after watching your video.
Be careful that the material used when dropping the image you will be sampling is NOT the same as the material used in the MatCap. Why? Because if they are the same, each time you add another MC sample, you alter the colors on the background source image and you're not seeing the true sample color. :)
The purest source image uses the Flat Color (index 00)

Sven: Ahhh I see what you mean - thats one to watch out for - thanks again. :)
cannedmushrooms: No problem! I've learnt a great deal from your tutorials, so many thanks for those.
Plakkie: Thanks. :)

OK, I'm doing something braindead hear obviously!
This "Enable Matcap tool" step, must be where I'm going wrong. Do you mean go to the Material menu and click the Matcap button? It does nothing for me... In the video, you go from inporting an image into all of a sudden drawing a yellow... something onto the screen. How? Sorry if it's a no-brainer, I'm just not seeing it.
Edit: And of course, as soon as I say I can't find it, I find it! Never mind. Thanks for the video!

link not workingTry right clicking and selecting "save as" or what ever your browser has as that option. The file is there and it works for me. If your still having problems, I'll zip up the file and post that in case its a problem with my hosts and streaming qt movies.

Could someone tell me where the Enable Matcap button is located, I seem to have the same kind of trouble as seanforsyth had.
As well can you copy the Flat Color material? It doesn't seem to allow copy of it..as other materials do
EDIT: Never mind, all is clear now..
