This is pretty much the only character in ZBrush I havent abandoned, although this one will probably be ditched also. The reason I abandon them is failed attempts to get the fine detail on to the character. projection manager never quite "Picks Up" the image the way it looked on the canvas. There will usually be over exaggerated bumps or something laid down which I thought at the time was a subtle effect is blown out of all proportion.

If anyone could point me to any tutorials which specifically deals with fine detail in (or out of) projection manager I would be most grateful.

BTW Id just like to add out of all the forums Ive visited this has to be one of if not "the" most friendly in the community. Ive seen people upload some pretty dire stuff, not too far off mine and the comments are always constructive with helpful advice, rather than the usual "that sucks" that you get a lot of at other forums.

Oh and about my character I know his ear is too long. I was making all his features exaggerated and over ecagerrated the ear a bit too much. Just pulling the lobe up will probably fix this but Ive pretty much just uploaded it at the point I think I need some advice, I havent set out to make it look good before I uploaded it, fishing for compliments isnt what Im after, although critique is more than welcome. If I spent another half hour I could have it looking a whole lot better even without going to the fine details, but I really just want some pointers.

[EDIT]

Just to add this is untextured and un-rendered. Just a simple openGL screen grab. But you probably knew that already. :p

A very meditative looking intellectual, from another galaxy I guess. That's a very strong characterisation. I can easily imagine that he could exist somewhere out there ... That's the hard part done. Now the easy bit comes after. The fine tuning.
Well done. Creating fancy modelling to paste over a poor concept is one problem you don't have here.

Alan.

I think you might post your image a bit smaller so those with smaller monitors can see all the image at once. ;)
