Still 15 ;)
Actually, wouldn't today be 14, as in 14 more days? Seems like the 15th of May, Z-Day, should be the zero mark, no?

It's just enough time for Aurick to buy a truck load of valium and for Element5 to prepare for the onslaught. I am looking at ebay for a helmet I can send Aurick 8).

Lol Bill! That movie was great!
Darn, it's May already... In two weeks we will be sitting in front of a download screen cursing 'cause the server's overloaded. I must say I'm beginning to feel the tension growing.
Had there been any news about the way we will be able to get Z3? Will we get an email or something?

What's element5 ? Is it bad?
If it will take days to acquire Z3 after the release date I would like to know now, then I can prepare for it and ask my friends to peel my face of the monitor.
It's May 3 down here... less then 2 weeks...
If it is released on May 15, what is the best guess on an individual
actually having it.
I am guessing June 1.
( edit: have to say that so far my dealings with element 5 have
been great. Seriously, great bunch.)

( edit: have to say that so far my dealings with element 5 have

When the 64 bit Z2 binaries were released, activating it through element5 was a nightmare. You figure the userbase who are on 64bit hardware is well below 50%, now imagine 100% of your userbase upgrading to Z3 at the same time. Let's just hope Pixologic and Element5 have put their heads together on this one, or it'll be a huge mess :)
I think Element5 is the least of our worries - didn't you see the other thread?
Z3 has been put back just one more month.
Just Kidding - but lol - you should have seen your faces :D

i think they are aware of that, and hopefully this won't happen anymore, else i had with other purchases over element5 never problems.
Btw i don't think the problem was the amount of peoples that are upgraded, i mean el5 has many clients more for other Software ect, but they should stack the support part a bit up.
At the end are just human peoples behind every company.(nah not really) ;)

How do you get Z3 when it comes out? I just bought the retail version of Zbrush 2. I wrote the POP (proof of purchase) number inside big guide book the CD box came with. I don't have my new PC yet and this means I dont have the program installed either.

Lol! Last night I dreamed that Z3 had come out a week earlier! My desktop portrayed the happy news in shining images, and going to ZCentral I saw countless threads by enthousiastic people exclaiming how cool Z3 was. Then I thought: "But how do I get it?". Opening Zbrush it turned out that Pixologic had already updated my old version into Z3. I could start right away!!
That was the moment I awoke: dreams are bastards. So, I still haven't played with Z3 and can't reveal cool new tools and techniques from the subconscious realm... :(
Well not including today we have 8 whole days left. I hope I got my computer built in time.

I dunno, 4 days or 4 weeks doesn't really matter to me at this point. I waited 3 years, so it's just a drop in the bucket by now. What I'd like to see is a finalized feature list for Z3.. seems strange that they haven't released one yet. We don't know if it'll do UV's, if it has improved GUV/AUV tiling, etc. We only know what we've gleaned off of the next step video :)
Either way, we'll all know soon enough.
3 Days here...... I'm hoping I can model medieval helms a bit better in version 3 (hard edges and bending ear guards etc), but I suppose I'll find out soon enough.

Hello ZBrushers,
New member first post. Downloaded demo 2 weeks ago, have'nt splept since.
Plan on purchasing ZB3 on the 15th and I can't wait. I've been a Maya user for about two years, but I found organic modeling to be difficult. ZBrush is the holy grail for this and is unmatched by any program in any price range (but you already knew this). Congrats to Pixologic for the best instructional tutorials in the business. I look forward to learning and corresponding with all of you amazing artists. As my username implies I'm already addicted and don't foresee any sleep in my near future!

3 days indeed, and: Pre-registration is open!
I tried to fill in as good as I could. Why is this registration progress for any piece of software always so confusing. Too many terms: POP, ID#, Serial, Liscense, Coupon Code...
We will see, glad I stored my emails with the first perchase.
Three days. I'm already imagining what I'm going to make first... Probably we will first go through a doodle fase showing off all the cool new features we discover. Probably there will be a lot of red on this forum Lemo, but I have no doubt that soon some of the material masters will make all kind of colored materials for us to sculpt with. :)
Pixolholic, welcome to the forum, and happy buying. Zbrush was the best buy I made in years and I have no doubt it will be for you too! Looking forward to see your first discoveries around here.
Try to get some sleep everyone, because in a few days we will be going through the night with millions of poly's to push, mold, rake, melt, flatten, sharpen, dent, paint and admire.

Hello everyone.
I've noticed that Z-brush 3 is out tomorrow. My question is, do I buy now as I'm not sure if Z3 is qoing to be a lot more expensive so buying now will mean I get it at Z2 price. But I also want the packaging which means if I buy now won't I just get the Z2 packaging.
Oh and finally I have a PC at the moment but want to buy a Mac. If I buy the PC version can I convert for free later?

It's so hard not making a fuss. I'm so glad this forum is around, because no one in my neighbourhood understands why I'm a bit nervous. It's been roughly 20 months since I first learned about Zbrush, so this is the first time I see a new version coming out. I'm very glad that I'm a part of it now.

Yeah, am thinking now that not getting a reply to the email I send to support means I won't be getting my copy soon. Also concerned that it'll probably end up taking a few weeks before things calm down enough for us all to get our downloads and things to get sorted out. Anyone know how much of this whole processing is being done by Pixologic and how much by Element 5?
Am hoping that they have things coordinated together enough so that my codes from Element 5 will be enough to prove I bought the software, seeing as my coupon code is way out of date (having had formats and what not to deal with over the years). Suspect it won't be the 15th I'll be getting my update!

I had no problem at all in talking to Element5 and getting my account data back active. And I only had a couple of email addresses and a rough purchase date to tell them. Go, give element5 a ring or try and log into your account there. I bet that the Pixologic support is swamped.

Windows is ugly but you can make it nice with Windowblinds, I can't live without it. It's fast, skins everything and has hundreds of themes. It's not free, but it's worth the money if you hate the look of Windows.

I reckon it will be about this time tomorrow before ZB is released in England. But it will be well worth the wait.

I got my confirm email immediately, but I'm just hoping server burden doenst shut a lot of people out anyways. I would have liked to see some "pre loading" for registered users, to dillute the release day bandwidth demand. The file is probably well under 500 mb...maybe it wont be a big deal...am I being paranoid?
Maybe Im overestimating the demand too...I suppose its possible not everyone in the world is going to be trying to download the program at the same time tomorrow. I suppose its possible that there are one or two people in some part of the world without easy access to electricity who may not even be intetrested in zb3. I cant understand that myself...Im even starting to dream in that cool new reddish default shader... and they are making those solar powered, hand-crank laptops...but I suppose its mathematically possible...
Back to creating some nice clean base meshes for zbrushing tomorrow, to keep busy. Have a good night everyone and try to get some sleep, you'll need it over the coming days.

I'm an hour earlier than LA (AST Alaska Standard Time). I figure since they are in California the release will come either at midnight their time or 9AM PST tomorrow. Either way I should be downloading before work.
Why am I acting like a groupie. :o
Even if I get it, I won't have time to play until Friday or Saturday:cry: Oh well, I don't relay need sleep anyway.
Not wanting to put a downer on things, but don't forget that several of the recent trailed announcements have actually come at the very end of the possible timeslot - for example the pre-order page went live just before midnight on the day it was promised... Don't think that I'm complaining, since Pix have been good to their word every time, but there could still be 30+ hours to go...

The file is probably well under 500 mb...maybe it wont be a big deal...am I being paranoid?Absolutely! :p
ZB in the past has been a 20-30Mb download.
I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, but if I recall correctly, access to the upgrade for the last two versions came fairly late in the day LA time, so a little more patience may be required.
For myself, I am so busy I don't think I'll be able to get stuck into ZB3 until next week, but by next month that will be a distant disappointment hidden under millions of polygons.
LOL :) ... Ill take urs on the 15th u can have mine on the 16th ... Deal? ;)

Quick question ladies and gents, once this does go live, where will the download link be posted? Or should I be checking my email? **trying to be patient, gnawing my fingers off**
Windows is ugly but you can make it nice with Windowblinds, I can't live without it. It's fast, skins everything and has hundreds of themes. It's not free, but it's worth the money if you hate the look of Windows.
Windowblinds (http://www.stardock.com/products/windowblinds/)
I reckon it will be about this time tomorrow before ZB is released in England. But it will be well worth the wait.
Haven't been this excited about something computer-related since I purchased an Amiga 500 in the 80's.Thankyou! Looks cool, cheap too!

They say a watched pot never boils, as time goes so very slowly when you're watching the clock. I would humbly suggest that there are things we could be doing to make the time pass more quickly. I for one will be cleaning my computer (read "eradicating that organism that is growing under my keys") and getting it prepared to house ZB3. I'll also be creating a more ergonomic working environment as I doubt I'll be leaving it any time soon after ZB3 is released (I.V. fluids and catheter are optional, but suggested). If you have any ideas how to pass this time more quickly, I'd love to hear them.

Hm... Battlefield 2... that's an option! Nothing for killing time than killing people. ;)
Personally I'm trying to get as much work done so that I have extra time for when it ís released. Another tip for passing the time is looking HERE (http://www.planet.nl/planet/show/id=2219209/sc=cf508f) for a live feed into a webcam inside a nest of Peregrin Falcon's. Right now the chicks are sleeping, but now and again an adult brings in a big fat dove and then the fun starts. Actually there was much commotion on that site: the mother and father Falcon have been breeding for 3 sucsessive years now, but this year it went wrong. A female falcon from Belgium fought with the mother Falcon, which was never seen again, presumed dead (the fight was terrible, plummating from the sky with claws locked!). The father was left alone to raise the three newborn chicks. For days he flew double shifts, but the prey was often confiscated by the new female from Belgium. The youngest of the chicks died of famine, and things looked grim for the two other. But two days ago, on a feast called mothers day down here, the female from Belgium finally started feeding the chicks, and showing motherly feelings for them. So now they are adopted and chances are they will survive.
Well, if that link didn't pass some time, this story did. It's fun to study their behaveour and see them grow and change.
As for the Pixologic website, I never thought I'd say this:

Agreed. If the software releases alongside the new website on west coast time, thats actually 3.AM on the 16th for me. But we are talking about sofware that was scheduled for release a year and a half ago, and went overdue for a year without any substantial word on where it was...
I'll be thrilled if I have it on the 16th...thats downright punctual for Pixologic ;)
If you have any ideas how to pass this time more quickly, I'd love to hear them.
Probably not what you want to hear, but I think the best thing you could be doing is creating nice clean, complete base meshes for zbrushing when you get it. That way you'll have something more sophisticated than a sphere to use the new tools with. The most agonizing part for me is being stuck outside of zbrush makiing my foundation for the fun stuff...I'm assuming that for all its imrpovements , Zbrush3 is still more of a supplemental modeller if you're not into zspheres.

I had no problem at all in talking to Element5 and getting my account data back active. And I only had a couple of email addresses and a rough purchase date to tell them. Go, give element5 a ring or try and log into your account there. I bet that the Pixologic support is swamped.
LemoThanks Lemo, I'm so bad with dates I can barely remember my age though! Anyway, I managed to find an old email with a POP number (which I used for the Coupon number) and the Order number, so I tried again and got the "Congratulations" page. No confirmation email, just the page. We'll see.

Aw man I didn't think about that. Bandwidth is going to CRrrrrrrap with everyone downloading at midnight. Why I wanted to wait till this afternoon.
From what I've read from all the BETA testers. They were mostly working with adequate equipment, nothing really extravagant. I'm very excited to hear about that.
Hi all, just found these old threads from when we awaited ZBrush 2. As you can see, history does indeed repeat itself. With patience, we will all make it through. :D :D The nice thing is, despite our frustration right now, Pixologic does deliver a great product and they are far more generous than any other software company I've ever dealt with.

For some reason I was foolishly thinking that they would allow downloads in the order
people hopped on the pre-reg.....you know, submit the download links continuously
from the time people pre-register to ease the bandwidth of having
a big hit on the magical "15th" (which really turns out to be 16th or later) :(

Local subdivision? Great!!!
can anyone see the debut video? Or any of them? I get a flashing "FLV" on all the videos, and in some cases a "ZOOM error".

has anyone received theirs?
Nope, it's been delayed by a day.
Look here (http://zbrushcentral.com/zbc/showthread.php?t=44683)

It will still take me two months to get zbrush updated, (before that time I wont be able to get back to home), so I am no hurry. :D
I went through the wiki tutorials and they are awesome. :tu: :tu: :tu:
If and only if it doesnt take me another lifetime to learn zbrush 3 from scratch again, it will solve all the artistic problems I had till now.
BTW- I did spend one lifetime in learning zbrush 2.
Well rest of you, ah i feel how you feel, but accept the delay and your anxiety will be gone.
chill guys. ;)
hey Lemo any ideas about the demo ?

Oh, and welcome to new Orleans...
orleans.jpg
(It's obviously going to be one of those days...)
Bloody hell, isn't it out yet?
I had a shower, combed my hair and everything (it's been known to happen).
I dunno, still, I'm glad I didn't wait up for it last night :p
Anyway, I see from the new info that it's very generous as regards the minimum system requirements. I'm pleased about that 'cause it means I can hang-on to my trusty ol' Celeron box for a good while longer :tu:

Can anyone see the Z3 Debut movie?
movie downloads slowly and quits part way through.
Just around the time they are peeling off their clothing.
Plakkie

You mean their mesh projected clothing? ;)
Rumors fly a lot.
However.
Reason for delay:
Key member of Zbrush 3 newer version, just cut off hair
and checked into rehab.
edit: who's the tatooed broad in the advertisement?
Looks like a weekend in Vegas gone amuck.
edit edit: blame Lemonnado, he started me on the road to irreverence.
( Thank you Lemonnado, feel better now, being good was too much
strain on me;) )

I hate being right all the time :)
If you were betting on a delay you would have had
to give odds.
It's the thought that counts.
this might be the only time you can post a reply and say
whatever you want.
If will be months before they come down here.
Enjoy:lol:
