Seasons Greetings All

It was decided that due to the oncoming holidays that we would just have a month long challenge that would end on December 31st. We will post all of our winter and holiday images here to share with the world.
We will still meet on Monday nights in chat, but this will be the ongoing challenge to make it easy for everyone.

So put on your Santa hats, your elf ears, and get in your reindeer powered sleds and warm up your Zbrush and get to posting....Santa Z is watching to see who has been naughty and who has been nice.

Rules....

Try to keep the images done in Z if possible and the theme is the holidays. :tu:

Did I imagine it or did someone post a download of two or three variations of snow materials?
It would have been at least three monthes ago.
Anyone remember who and when?

Hi, Belleski.

This may be the thread you're looking for here (http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=008758).

It's summer here in New Zealand, but I'm not complaining ;)

Should the holiday scene include a winter aspect, or is any holiday scene OK?

Thanks Wayne...That's it exactly! Now lets hope I can make something with it. ;)

Thats great Muvlo! :tu:, thanks =). I really love the aurora borealis. I've even tried to photograph it here when we had a very powerful one just a few weeks ago, but it sure ain't easy. It was for the most part green but it also float into shades of purple and blue and swayed gracefully as it covered almost the whole field of sight. The complete silence was broken only by the ice shrieking and making alien noises as it expanded in the first real cold of the year, It seems I sat and watched it for hours..although they usually don't last that long in full power so im not sure..

Oh well I got a little carried away I suppose!, but thanks for bringing it back ;).

Thanks, Karasuando. :) Few things are more captivating than pretty colors in changing patterns, so I imagine having an entire sky of them must be truly amazing! :)

Great images Ron and Juandel! :tu: :tu:

This is my first post. (Hope ther will be more.) :)
It's a pic of a traditional swedish lucia-bun come to life. I actually made it for a party invitation. Lucia is on the 13th of december, and it is to celebrate light and comes from the Italian saint lucia.
The bun tastes awesome and has a safron flavor.

Thanks guys for the positive feedback.

Juandel,

The trees I made by first modelling one by pulling out branches with move until they became pointy and layered as much as I could get them on a regular 3d cone primitive, didn't use any symmetry. Then I divided enough where I could get accurate noise on the sublayers.
I took the hook brush and used the dots alpha to pull out the needles with continuous color to match what I had already applied underneath, mainly white and green.
Here are some stages of the image.

I just got started with mine. I decided to give Mr. & Mrs. Clause a "make-over". :D

The figures are unified skinned ZSpheres.

So far, the most of the details were added with inflate and masking with a little bit of ZADD editing here and there.

The facial features are going to be next.

the Claus’s diet and exercising seems to work perfecto, WingedOne! i smell gingerbread and a masterpiece!

great pics, everybody! Ron, i love that coolcat santa, very special! Mik: another lovely illustrative job - excellent! and a mucho charming by (not only)link-master Pilou! :tu:s to all of you! and muchas gracias, gummie, for explaining your fabulous tree technique!

mine isnt as good but i decided that this years coniferes on juju-greetings-card have to be made of zspheres - here is a first attempt http://www.cyber-webs.com/zbrush/treesingle.jpg and a tiny
giveaway (http://www.cyber-webs.com/zbrush/xmastreesphere.ztl) - and a first try at implementing them into a vista:

:b4: edit after reading the below request: muchas gracias y por favor, WingedOne: here’s (http://www.cyber-webs.com/zbrush/xmastreeb.jpg) original size - default including more jaggies :)

:b4: :b4: edit 2: :D Pilou! i hope to be in the mood to do better ones for foreground asap :)

DLee: if you download the zspheretree above, fiddle with it to your gusto, skin it and make a mrgbz-grab you will get an alpha similar to the one i used with simplebrush/dragrectangle or spray stroke/zadd-off for the background (greyish - decrease width in draw-modifiers window if needed). i repeated that final spraystroke with a lil zadd-on at a smaller brush size, snowmaterial (a tweaked version of one of jaycephu’s great ink/sketch materials) and white colour. voila :)

He He Juandel
Your Christmas trees resemble like frost ventilator's blade (on close-up not in the back-ground :)
But the landscape composition is like Dutch medieval master painter !

Believe it or not, I have not had time to Z in over a week. Finished this little piece a few days ago...it's supposed to be the exterior which will be viewed through a window from inside a warm cozy house....we shall see if I am ever able to get any further. If not, this still ain't too bad. Best Holiday wishes to everyone, if I can't get around to visit by then. I have children in the house now, and as a single guardian, it is mucho difficult to find the time to Z.

wonderful additions since i stopped by last time! thats some very cool 2.5d-painting, Ken H - and i love your pics, Slosh, part. the reindeers in the 2nd one! a fantabulous santa gnome, Mentat and yours makes me mucho envious, hitch, both re: location and knowhow :D - these are wonderful snowcovered twigs and branches, Northstarr - bunches of :tu:s to all of you!

in todays papers there was a photo of the big lake (about 25 miles long, 10 wide, and only 6 ft. deep) which is located at the austrian-hungarian border not far from here and which turned into europes largest skating area the last few days due to freezing temperatures over here. my mental eye went to take a sunrise shot, while the skaters were still asleep :)
