View Full Version : ZBrush 3 Beta Images/one of my Zbrush Beta Images
Hmmm...since those images have been posted, I might as well post mine here, too. I somehow never got to post anything on the BetaForum...
Not that I have much more time right now, but I realize it's kinda sad I missed sharing my intense pleasure with Z3.
You'll find this one in the Ballistics Publishing book "d'Artiste:Character Modeling 2" including a set of tutorial on making it...
Base mesh: Lightwave 9
Modeling, texturing and staging: Zbrush 3
Rendering and lighting: ZbornToy (some NoiZette in the background)
The real curious thing about this one is that I've rendered it with Zbrush 3's new translucent materials and then added two lights with ZbornToy.

Before I forget to mention this, which is somewhat good to know: I find myself incapable of doing anything without Z3 anymore. I'm currently in a project which would be literally impossible with out it. And the best part is, it really makes me damn happy to work! ;)
This is stunning. I would love to try your plug-in Taron. It seems that it works pretty cool with zbrush :))
Here are some fun inbetween pics to make it a bit more entertaining...

Haha, thanks, yeah, it's practically made for it! ;)T
The cool part is, the translucency I was building into my plug-in is in perfect harmony with Zbrush's new materials, but adds a bit more complexity to the feel.
Well, go try it out, but make sure you've got After Effects professional to get 16 Bits per channel or higher for your project.
Thanx, again! :tu:

Translucent materials? Does this allow for a fake sss shader effect in zbrush?
Yes and it looks surprisingly convincing! Plus the materials are beautiful to edit, too! I always work with them! Not only do they look great, they also make it even better to see what you're doing. :tu:

All this zb3 art is simply amazing and yours fits perfect in that "drop jaw" category. :tu:

Thanks a lot! It's really time that I make a major update to my website again... argh.
Well, it'll happen VERY soon. I've got to add my Z3 work, but also my new Artrage2 fun AND something that's currently my main pleasure... stereographic images, hehe. I've got already some really incredibly experiments done and should soon start posting. But not everyone has 3d glasses (I'm using red/cyan and yellow/blue glasses, whereby red/cyan is actually easier on the eyes in terms of brightness).
If anyone would like to, I could post some stuff here, too. :)

Heya fratello! I'd love to see your stereographic images and artrage too! What are you waiting? :D
So you might want to get ready and see if you organize some 3d glasses for yourself! :)

(we're looking for red & cyan)
There are also some fancy plastic onces, but I havn't tried them, yet.

great! I was waiting for this... i love your zborntoy plugin... any plans to update or improve it to make use of some of the new features of ZB3?
(hope makes sense, sorry for my english)
Hehehe, thanx! Oddly enough it was already ahead of ZB and now Z3 has caught up for them to really work together even better.
I have, however, plans on improving it a bit more, too. Better ambient occlusion, individual modules, etc, etc, etc...
But anyway...this is all about Z3! :)
HA! When I saw the ZB3 preview movie I was sure this was yours.
Great work.

Looks cool Taron, especially that first image. I'm going to have to play with your plug in one of these days soon.
Remember this piece from the ZBrush movie...great image...did you render that number two in ZBrush 2 ?.....i ask this because of the small line artifact you can see in the render..i remember this from ZB2 but never seen it in a ZB3 render !
jantim
Thanx, Rick, I'm sure you would appreciate the speed, but you'd be first terrified by the amount of parameters. I best be with you to give you a little introduction. It's much, much easier than it looks.
Jantim, I've made that artifact myself, haha, it's been a goof on scratched old film. I thought it's kinda fitting. Anyway, it's rendered with zborntoy, too.
Only the profiles (red wax) are straight z3 screengrabs.
Thanx everyone, again! :D

This is great stuff Taron! I love it! Where are the other works? I bet you have a bunch there, just waiting to be released ;)

Ok, you wanted to see some more of my nonsense, haha! Ehm...couldn't show what I've done already, because it's top secret, BUT I just made a quicky for you... it shows some cool anaglyphical 3d fun with zbrush...
I mean,I snapped 2 images rotated left and right and put them together in after effects. I'm about to write a little plugin that does it really nice. There is an existing plugin, but it's not good. Currently I use zborntoy to get the red channel (it does chromatic compensations to get perfect contrasts) and just "set channel" for the cyan part).
It's silly as heck, but you've been asking for it.... and also, get some red/cyan glasses! ;)
Oh, and to get you an idea how long this one took... it's been a bit less than 20min from scratch in z3, even using zspheres and I'm totally not used to them.

Now that really is a ZBorn Toy.
There must be something wrong with my eyes I can see it clearly without the glasses :)
Great posts full of wonderful skill and painterly touches :tu:
Yehah! :D
Oh, man, you're really hurting my plans right now with suggesting a magic eye solution. I used to love that stuff 15 years ago, I think and had a program for it once. But making a AE plugin for it...hmmmm....sounds so much fun.
Thanx for the suggestion... some day soon I'll give it a shot! :)

Taron you mention using Z's new "translucent" materials. Now that Z3 is out, where you just refering to the MatCap materials, or are there real translucent shaders in Z3 now, that I haven't stumbled across yet?
Thanks!
Hi Taron!!!
I am loving your images. Great stuff!!!
I started to watch your dvd. I am lightwave user, and I am really enjoying because, I didn´t knows some tools of LW 9.
And your tips, is very useful.
Are there any chances of a DVD for modelling a full body?
Have you used LW 9.2?
Thanks,
Ztr
