Well, most of you have probably seen this character before. I decided to start this new thread since the old one was mainly light testing and such (and very buried much further back). Here he is though in his own scene. Much more work to be done, but I wanted to share this with you. I will probably be adding and subtracting until I am satisfied. Please let me know what you think, I am always open for suggestions! :D Dave

Just today, I showed someone at work your original post on this baby dragon. How ironic that you post a new image today???

He is absolutely adorable.

That's why I've never found one - I didn't realise how small they were as babies! He's very cute. :D :tu:

Well, here is an update of sorts. I still have plenty I would like to do to this picture. Changes made: His teeth, the background to match closer to the foreground, the fairy, dragons bump mapped, and trying to simulate sunlight filtering through an unseen overhang of trees. Very tricky! I think I like it, but would like to get opinions from others on what might be changed. Any suggestions are welcome! :D More to come, and thanks for the wonderful advice and comments. It makes the experience just that much more enjoyable. Having a blast! Dave

Really nice update. The sun through the leaves above works great! :tu: IMHO, the only thing I think I see is the ambient/diffusion of the dragon. Maybe a shade enhancer where he and the ground meet. I really can't see anything else that catches my eye save how bright he seems underneath.
Just what I see but man this is great regardless of what I see. :) :tu: :tu: :tu: :)

Mahlikus: thanks for the feedback on that. I have thought the same thing, and believe me I have been struggling with that one. Considering a couple of options, but it will definitely change. Drives me nuts every time I look at it! Thanks again. Glad you are satisfied with the fairy Frenchy! :D More to come! Too dark on that background??

This is looking great! I had the sun challenge as well. Though I did not pull it off as well as I would have liked:

I ended up baking the layer and using the shading enhancer tool.

I like the the first background better. Gives more depth, and would help emphasize that it is sunny outside...

Oh, and this image is so cool!

New update: just added a few more fairies, and worked on the lighting a bit more. Getting closer I think. Let me know what YOU think. Thanks for the feedback once again! :D Dave

Thanks again! I wanted to share a little bit about what went into this rendering. The fairies are Poser models in different poses. I just tried the program and found it to be what I needed for this project. Eventually I will attempt creating a human figure myself. The two grass clumps are models from PlantStudio. Nice program, I am not sure who recommended it, but thanks! The background is actually a picture of our front flower garden. Sunday I was laying down in different areas with my digital camera getting several shots looking up through the flowers and such trying to get the correct angle for this project. People passing by thought I was a little wierd probably, but that's ok. :) The rest, and the majority is ZBrush! Oops, I textured the tree using pictures of bark from a tree in our backyard. A digital camera certainly does come in handy some times. Now; all of the rest is ZBrush. Even the dandelion pods floating through the air are modelled. It certainly has been fun getting this far with this, and I will probably try to tweak just a bit more. Thanks M for the compliment! Thanks again for checking in every once in a while and checking out progress! Happy ZBrushing! :D :D

it took me a while to figure out that he wasnt falling down ...the grass might be too dark, or maybe my gamma is off or something.
