Can anyone tell me where I can find out about the texture found in the material menu. I have put a red ring around the texture I would like to find out about. I would like to find out how to make my own textures to use with the materials but I need to know what size they are and if they are just tiled images ect ect.

They are tiled images, and can be any size. Typically, they are 256x256 or 512x512. You can put your own into it by first loading the texture into the Texture palette. Then click on the texture box in the Material Modifiers and choose the one that you loaded. When you have set all of the other modifiers the way that you want to, save the material. The texture will be saved with it, and will load into the material automatically any time the material is loaded in the future.

Different materials use these textures differently, and some use several textures at once. You can get some really remarkable results this way.

Thanks aurick
Thanks for the info I have been wondering about this because I have lots of textures I would like to use with ZB's mats. Do they have to be 24 bit gray scale or can they be anything? And is there a way for me to tell what mats use this texture and what ones dont?

There are no requirements. If it can be loaded into the Texture palette, it can be used.

There is no way to tell what materials use a particular texture, however.

OK here is a texture I have made to try and use with the material. I load it into the material like you said but it still wont act like the one that came with ZB. I used it with the same material and was trying to get the same kind of look as I got with the other one. Is there something I'm missing.
I'm using txtr09 that came with ZB and it is kinda like this one.

There's a few ways you can do this.
1 Use the texture master and embed the texture but making it look like fake material i painted the material on.
::fAKEmaterialembededAStEXTURE.zip (http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/zbc_uploads/user_file-1033348493mta.zip)
here is plane texture it embed it self when saving ::texturembeded.zip (http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/zbc_uploads/user_file-1033348595otj.zip)
here is REFLECTIVITY Make sure you use the right material that lets you set the reflitivty of the texture i think this is what you want load this threw LOAD Material ::SphericalBlendREFLECTIVITY.zip (http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/zbc_uploads/user_file-1033348685qtj.zip)

Which material did you apply it to, and which channel. I just put your texture into the S1 channel of Spherical Blend, and got results that were VERY similar to the material default. In other words, as far as I could tell, it behaved exactly as I would have expected.

Run This zscript ::Reflectivity.txt (http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/zbc_uploads/user_file-1033350506myj.txt)

If it helps, DFaris, here are the steps I used to get your texture into a material:

:b2: Loaded the texture into my Texture Palette
:b2: Pressed Material ::Spherical Blend
:b2: Went to the "S1" Tab under Material ::Modifiers
:b2: Pressed the icon of the default texture
:b2: Selected your texture from the pop-up

Nothing else was modified.

Hope this helps! :)
