converting maya fur to a texture

Is there a way I can convert a fur description to a bitmap such as a tga? I am using maya fur to create some bear like fur and I would like to bake the fur out to a bitmap for a video game (game doesnt support maya fur just bitmaps)

I prefer to use maya fur to get a nice random flowing fur texture rather than making some kindof tiled image in photoshop.

Fur I dont know but by pressing the 8 key you canpaint a canvas with a paint effect hairs...
