View Full Version : Exception to my non-posting of WIP's...

Usually, I don't feel I should post WIP's, but I'm making an exception. I entered a contest on 3D Commune, in the 'Zanadu' section. Imagine my reaction when I got to my studio this morning, and found a letter from Jackie, the moderator, telling me I was disqualified, and that ZBrush must be used above other software. The piece in question was my 'Gentleman From Brazil', which was 100% ZBrush! So, in an effort to show my commitment to a Z-Way of doing things, here is a piece I plan on posting later this week...ALL in ZBrush. ( I did use Elefont for the text DXF's). I hope Jackie reads this post, and understands my working philosophy...

WHAT!?!

I don't get it. Zanadu was a contest for ZBrush. Brazil was ZBrush.

I'm confused.

THEIR loss. :td:

BTW you already know I LOVE THIS piece!
;) :D :tu:

I'm so sorry to hear the news Stonecutter. The Gentleman from Brazil was a fantastic image :(
You can tell by looking closely that it was a ZBrush image. The face we have seen as a tool, the body has the level of detail that zbrush would give (not a barbie doll look, but detailed), the right hand was possibly made using spherinders, and the left using a sphere. All of the plant life and tools could easily be ZBrush and the background done with color and an alpha or smear brush.
As for the new image, it's looking great so far and an interesting concept. Can't wait to see the finished image ;)

I've already have had a sneak peak at this one (thanks Stonecutter!) I am glad you are posting it as a WIP. For me, I appreciate being able to look over people's shoulder as a image develops.

As for your Brazil image and the contest, heh maybe you should feel a little flattered that they didn't think an image like that could be done in Zbrush. On the other hand to be summarily disqualified without being able to defend yourself must have been a bit of a suprise. Hmmm

heh, digits. me too, and I even know the layout of the final image. I guess you're not so well informed these days ;)

thanx Michael, and know that they aren't worth the trouble if they disqualify that cute nude guy on *any* terms.
