first question: im having a little problem with materials for one of my models... im trying, for one, to make the lips look a bit glossy. i modified the toy plastic material a bit and applied it with the regular brush with MRGB and M modes, now for some reason when i apply the brush on the lip area it bcomes darker than it was before which creates a sharp contrast with the skin around the lips...

second question: im having some problems with skin creation, i got alphas figured out, but the texturization's giving me problems. for one, the skin looks like a cheap rubber toy... how do i make those highlights and little details that make it look real? again, how can i make those kindof glossy areas that "makes" the nose and such.

each answer will be more than welcome.. and please, dont send me to the quicklinks, i lookd over there just now.. i also read the Zacademy compilation..

It took a minute for me to find, but this tutorial by Southern should answer both questions nicely.

thanks aurick! just what i was looking for, though southern didnt emphesize somthing well enough, i had to read too many times to get the point. the material of the head and the material with the specularity turned up are the BUT, you need to save the head material, load it to another slot in the material panel (as in choose some other material and than click load) and than change the specularity. if you load the material in the same slot it will change the specularity of the whole model, we dont want that...

just though i needed to clarify this for any newbies who might be reading this and didnt quiet get southern's (GREAT!) tutorial.. which by the way ISN'T in the quicklinks!! (why is that???)

Hi Silentbob,

Thanks for pointing out that this great little lip tutorial wasn't in Quicklinks. It's now been added. :)

If you ever see anything that is not in QuickLinks, and you think that it should be - then follow the directions at the bottom of QuickLinks to submit a link.

just wanted to add some more insights (by others) that seem to fit in here (http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=000216) :D
